Something I Have Not Heard Before

(Written in response to my frustrations with "social media")

Please...

Tell me something I haven’t heard before

Use your words to open my mind to new possibilities

Break my heart if necessary

Just Open me to something new.

Please.

Keep silent if you only want to repeat the cliches I have heard countless times before

Or express viewpoints cut and pasted from the internet television or social media

I have heard them before

So many many times

Speak to me of the higher parts of you

Your mind

Your character

Your hopes and dreams

I do not need to hear your complaints.... your gossip or judgement of others...

Your quick fix solutions for complex multigenerational social problems or the inequalities on the earth 

Anyone can point fingers

I have heard the buzzwords

The ideologies

The accusations of anyone other than yourself

The shifting away of responsibility and accountability

So please 

Tell me something I have not heard before

I am so tired of human laziness

Of reboots reimaginings and other intellectual and creative plagiarism

Of claims of improving another’s creative expression by corrupting it, tearing off the labels and replacing it with ones own name

I am so bored of people whose viewpoints mirror their friends..., or society or the majority

Have you no soul?

No individual distinctiveness ?

You do but I don’t think you can be bothered exploring or expressing it

When emulating others is so much easier.

I see you regardless of all of that

I sit here waiting for you to stop your hiding

So please...if you can...
