Something hidden in all that junk under your desk is a fire hazard......

It's a desk, not a paper store (whoever said we'd be in paperless offices by now is just a tad wide of the mark). Your boss probably spent a small fortune on nice shiny filing cabinets yet somehow you chose the 'under the desk' storage system. There used to be a bit of an issue with extension leads and network cables under there, but hey, you've sorted that right out, you've hidden the whole lot with copious quantities of A4. So what you've now created is a heat source and a combustible material.....Perhaps you could plug in a couple of electric heaters, because it's such a cold office, then we'd really be cooking....literally !

There's a little thing called responsibility....It's not something only 'other' people do, it's down to you as well. Take a few minutes to briefly look around your office. If it's a mess, it's probably dangerous...period. Do yourself, and perhaps your colleagues, a favour. Tidy all the excess paper away, clear a path under your desk, don't plug your heaters in to extension leads and don't use your desk space as a rubbish dump. It's not too much to ask is it, and yes, I know, you're really busy, stressed and over worked......Still once you've caused a nice big fire you can have a few months off....

PAT testing isn't just about getting your office straight for 1 day a year. It's about getting you to think about safety every day of the year.
