Something different

Here is something which arrived overnight and will be interesting for editors and theorists in different disciplines ...

<starts here>

Dear Colleagues,
Integral Transmissions: A Dictionary of Lacanian Mathemes and Topologies is an experimental publication that aims to provide a comprehensive catalogue of each of the key Lacanian mathemes, formulae, and topologies introduced over the course of Lacan’s teaching. Lacan believed that mathemes offered an “integral transmission” of psychoanalytic doctrine, even while they could not be transmitted “purely.” In 1971, two years after Lacan gave name to the matheme, he claimed: “[they are named] mathemes [...] we haven’t the slightest idea what they mean, but they are integrally transmitted. Nevertheless, they are not transmitted without the help of language, and that’s what makes the whole thing shaky.” Yet, these strange inscriptions and topologies have the capacity to “rip us away from the imaginary function.”

The editor is inviting authors to submit their own dictionary entry for any number of schemas or topologies, consisting of approximately 1500-1700 words. Authors may contact [email protected] to secure an entry.
Thank you,
Duane
