To someone who does not have a resolution for the New Year: Enjoy the Little Moments

It's here: Before the ball drops on December 31st, the time of grand #resolutions. Where we're alleged to write down an inventory of #goals for the subsequent year, like saving more money, eating healthy, embracing self-care, learning some new skill, or finally stop procrastinating (someday).
We expect about the end—closing the chapter and cleaning off a slate. Saying "see ya later" (or hopefully, see you never) to a year which started with a pandemic, economy slip-ups, and witnessed a worldwide Google shut down in the end.
Even though 2020 has been a total whacko, we all love ends, grand finales, and spectacular finishes—we have repeats, extras, and distinct sequels, and we're the people that skip to the last chapter because we would like to understand how the book ends. We save the foremost delicious bite for last and prefer to kiss the person we love at the end of the year.
Amidst all this, we forget the center, middle, half-way through the year.
It is where all the great stuff happens.
Think about your last special day or a flash that made you stop-in-your-tracks #happy: It probably wasn't some big planned thing. Those little magic #moments are not extraordinary, but in a way, they are. We all got to experience many such magical moments, the stillness of #life due to lockdown, especially spending quality time with our loved ones. Many such moments that caught you off-guard. But I bet it had been a flash within the #middle, the #center, half-way through the year.
It's easy to get wrapped up in the hype: this is the year I start eating healthy, will marry my loved one, I become a millionaire!
Those are all worthy goals, excellent ones. Do the big stuff—fall crazy, have adventures, attempt to move mountains, break the rules, dream bigger and bolder. But don't forget the small stuff, too. Be a bit kinder. A bit more thoughtful. A bit more conscious of the awesomeness of this life. Because it matters.
I hope in 2021, we remember to like the small moments that make the center because the center is our life. It's those little pieces that make an enormous difference. A kind word, going out of your way to make someone else happy.
It doesn't need to be big to be necessary. And it doesn't need to be perfect to be meaningful.
Maybe 2020 was your best year ever—awesome! Or for a few of you, it may be the worst year ever.
Maybe you dream of 2021 looking a bit different. Regardless, I hope we love the center as much as the end, appreciate the small stuff, and do whatever we will to place a little bit of #goodness out.
May the year 2021 be magical for you.
Let's toast to the minuscule yet magnificent moments of 2020.
