Most of us hate to see someone viewing our profile in invisible mode. Many LinkedIn members, out of curiosity, are in search of terms such as who viewed my profile LinkedIn hack.
Whether you can hack your way into this or not is debatable. However, if you’re someone like me that’s always curious when we get such notification without knowing what to do with it, then this post is for you.?
Here, I guide you through what to do when you get a notification showing “Someone at [Company Name] viewed your profile.?
However, before we proceed, let me quickly answer some of your hitching questions.?
How does ‘Who's Viewed Your Profile’ Work??
LinkedIn allows you to control how people get notified when you view their profile through the Setting & Privacy page. This comes in three formats;?
Here is a sample from my personal settings below:
You can check LinkedIn’s visibility settings for more information.?
Can LinkedIn premium see anonymous??
No, even with a premium account, members who choose to view your profile in private mode will remain anonymous. They decided to keep anonymity for whatever reasons, and LinkedIn respects that decision. If your sole purpose for subscribing to LinkedIn premium is to see your anonymous profile viewers, you might need to rethink.?
What to do when people view your LinkedIn profile in private mode
You can’t do anything if a LinkedIn member views your profile in complete private mode. It has happened to me on many occasions. That leaves you with a plethora of guesses.?
Could this be one of my previous employers? Maybe it’s the company I submitted an application to recently, or perhaps it’s my ex or LinkedIn crush... The list is endless!

How to make sense of LinkedIn Profile View in Private Mode
Often, HRs, recruiters, and employers searching for suitable candidates for open positions in their organization use the private view mode. If you can see the company they represent, then that’s good news. You only have to follow the following steps:
Step 1: Click the company’s profile page and filter to job. You’ll see different job openings. One must have matched the skills you chose on LinkedIn because they possibly used one of those keywords to find you.?
Step 2: Check the job description and follow the instructions on how to apply for the post. Alternatively, you can visit the company’s website and find their career page for any openings.?
However, if you can’t find any open positions, you can use the following approaches.?
Step 1: Click the company’s profile page and filter to people. Think of who could be responsible for hiring. My best guesses are HR or Head of the specific role you qualify for in the company.?
Step 2: Send a personalized invitation stating how you found the company, your skills, expertise, and whatever you can offer. You’ve to keep it short and straight to the point due to the limited characters.?
What if they don’t have any positions for you?
It’s possible someone from the organization just stumbled on your profile and found it interesting without an active vacant position. If you have a mutual connection with the company’s employees, you can check if you have a mutual connection with them. If yes, they might be the source of the profile view. Try to reach out and ask if they named dropped you to anyone in that company.?
But if your search is futile, you can decide to make a series of helpful posts that aligns with what the company needs. For instance, if it’s a SaaS company, and you are a SaaS Copywriter, you can create 2 - 3 posts on helpful topics such as “How to accelerate sales conversion as a SaaS company.” Try to include relevant tags in your posts. This is what I call positioning.?
One of your posts might catch their attention. But if, after everything, nothing happens, then know that some things are meant to be unknown. Nevertheless, that doesn’t stop you from posting and building your personal brand.?
How do you feel when someone views your LinkedIn profile in private mode?
