Someone Out There Needs What You Know—Here’s How to Start Your Coaching Business!

I never planned to become a coach. Honestly, I didn’t even think anyone would listen to me.

But life has a way of pushing us toward opportunities we never expected.

As an immigrant to Canada, I experienced firsthand just how brutal the job search process can be. I had years of experience, a master’s degree, and international exposure—but none of that seemed to matter. I applied to 400+ jobs, faced rejection after rejection, and spent months feeling stuck.

It was frustrating. It was exhausting. And at times, I questioned if I’d ever land a role.

But through that struggle, I figured out what worked. I refined my approach, built a strong personal brand, and changed my job search strategy. And when I finally broke through? I knew I wasn’t the only one who had faced this challenge.

So, I started sharing my story online.

And then, something surprising happened…

People started reaching out. “Can you look at my resume?” “How do I stand out?” “What should I say in this interview?”

At first, I helped for free on ADPList and other platforms. I was even recognized as one of the top 1% of coaches on ADPList.

I genuinely wanted to see others succeed because I knew what it felt like to struggle. But as more and more people came to me for guidance, I realized:

? I had valuable knowledge to offer.

? I was already doing the work—just without charging for it.

? People were willing to pay for real, practical help.

That’s when I decided to turn my knowledge into a coaching business. And if you’ve ever thought about doing the same—whether it’s to supplement your income, prepare for a possible layoff, or build a future beyond your 9-5—here’s how you can start:

That’s when I decided to

1?? Find Your Niche

What do people already ask you for help with?

For me, it was career coaching—helping job seekers navigate the job market, land offers, and build their personal brands.

Maybe for you, it’s business strategy, financial coaching, fitness, or mindset coaching. The key is to solve a problem people are willing to pay for.

2?? Test Your Offer

Before I even thought about pricing, I ran free coaching sessions to see if I could actually help people.

? This built my confidence.

? It gave me real testimonials.

? It helped me refine my process.

If you’re starting out, test your coaching skills with real people first.

Ask for feedback and see what works.

3?? Create Your Coaching Package

Once I saw the impact I was making, I structured my services into clear, easy-to-understand offers:

?? One-on-one coaching for personalized job search strategies

?? Resume & LinkedIn audits to help people stand out

?? Interview prep for confidence and success

People need clarity when investing in coaching.

What do they get? How does it help them? Define this early.

What do they get? How does it help them?

4?? Build an Online Presence

I didn’t have a website. I didn’t have fancy branding. I just started posting on LinkedIn.

I shared my insights, my lessons, and my success stories. And that’s when people really started paying attention.

You don’t need a perfect website to start—you just need to show up and share value.

5?? Start Charging for Your Value

The hardest part? Asking people to pay for something I used to do for free.

I had to shift my mindset:

?? People value what they pay for.

?? Charging for my time meant I could help more people—without burning out.

?? The transformations my clients had were worth it.

So, I set my prices. And to my surprise, people said yes.

Why This Matters Now More Than Ever

In today’s job market, nothing is guaranteed.

?? Layoffs are happening across industries.

?? A single income stream isn’t enough anymore.

?? More people are looking for ways to take control of their careers.

Coaching isn’t just about making money—it’s about impact, security, and freedom.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a coaching business, this is your sign to start.

Because someone out there needs what you know.

Have you ever considered coaching?

Or are you already on the journey?

Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear your story!

P.S. If this resonated with you, share it with someone who needs to see this!

Keep pushing forward, I'm rooting for you!
