Someone had to say it...
If you have been following my content over the past 3+ years you know that I have always said (and I hope to be known for this): The moment you give something a name, you give it the ability to have an extremism.
Feminism is a perfect example. At one point it started off for the right reasons, but sadly in 2022, it's more of a man-bashing movement that forgot that the original intent was equality. I want nothing to do with that word because while there still are obvious gender pay-gap issues and sexist/misogynistic men out there, they are not the majority.
Strong women I know who own companies or are executives actually DO NOT like it when they hear things like "oh you are the 'female' CEO" because that is taking away from their accomplishments. No...she is 'the' CEO period dot, no need to add her gender. You never hear people say 'male CEO' so don't do that to women.
If anything I should be a feminist with all the BS that has happened to me in my career from sh*tty men, but I am smarter than that. I have EQ that allows me to see things for what they are. My bad experiences with those men do not define all of my experiences. As a strong woman who isn't easily f*ckwithable, I want to keep that same energy for the young women coming into the workforce now.
Let's teach young women that the only one that can hold them back is themselves. Let's set them up for success with not only female mentors but also male mentors. Some of the best leaders I had were men who to this day still have my back and helped me become who I am today. Let's not manipulate these young women into thinking the world is against them. We can prepare them that it's not going to be easy and they need to stand strong and push, but let's be serious...other women will be some of their biggest career obstacles. Jealousy is evil and it runs rampant on both sides.
Many feminists want to man bash, which is ironic if they have a son. Make it make sense? Either way, I am not here for it and when it comes to my work culture business I'd encourage clients to stray away from feminist agendas because again...at this point in history it's an extremism that is more toxic than good.

Before you lose your marbles consider this: why do you need a name to want equality? I don't. Why do you have to say you are a feminist because you want to be paid the same as men? You don't. You don't need a "name" or a "box" to fit in to believe that pay equality should be the norm. Many men believe this to be the case too. Many men have raised daughters who now deal with these issues and root for their kin and want that for them just as you want it for you and yours.
Women in America (that is what I can speak to) have come a LONG way in our 245 years. There are countries that still have women walk 6 ft behind their men *rolls eyes* (I have literally been there to witness this so don't try to argue me)...let's have some perspective that Rome was not built in a day, however, we are making amazing strides and yes, we should celebrate our wins!
I am not a feminist. I am a woman who wants the best for everyone & doesn't feel the need to fit into a box. Especially a box that takes us 10 steps backwards and has agendas I will NOT get behind. All that being said...
Women your power is in your feminine energy. Do not feel like you need to "act like a man" to get by in this world because you miss the entire point of our power when you overcompensate by acting like a man (and ironically it's very counterintuitive to your goal). True feminine energy doesn't destroy, it creates.
I do encourage men to share positive stories in their careers that celebrate women this month. Would love to hear them as well as prove a point ;)

2 年Oh Brittinay, I eel like we could have a long conversation about all of this because I am on the same wavelength. Feminism has become a negative in many senses, although it started with the best of intentions. Women and men were created to be different, so rather than trying to prove that a woman can do everything that a man can do, why not celebrate and embrace the differences . . . all while making sure we pay people equitably for their contribution. My empathetic and nurturing nature (feminine energy) is a value to our organization . . . they don't need an on-site therapist, that's me ?? Thank you for writing this!
My daughter learned early and often that you can build people up or tear them down. Thankfully she has chosen the former. All American women can be anything that they want to be but life always requires trade-offs. I have had far too many female bosses who were hypercompetive with other females. That catty stuff is just wrong. I prefer ballsy broads who can just bring it. Be that person that people can rely on, not the one that they avoid.
