If someone gives you their karma?

If someone gives you their karma?

It’s extremely egoistic. To try and take on the role of the hero and cause “justified” harm to an alleged “villain”. It’s an ego boost for them. That said, karma in the way I experience and understand it, is not something that is “done” by an external force. Karma is internal, and it is your moral consciousness responding to a “wrongful” action. Scenario 1. You’re in a store and decide to steal something. Immediately, you are trapped by the fear of “what if I get caught by the camera?”.

You now have to contend with the possibility that you could get caught, be seen or recorded, have security aware of you, may gain a reputation in that store as a thief. A store I used to work at had pictures of thieves taken from security cameras and posted on the wall in the back room. So the employees could keep an eye out for the thieves and call security if we saw them. So- the chaos and fear that exists in your mind, elevates your blood pressure, maybe causes a nightmare, bring guilt, or even punishment if you are caught- that is the karma.

Scenario 2. You cheat on your partner. Even if they don’t find out, the karmic retribution is the paranoia, fear, guilt, and distrust you will likely experience after having cheated. Even if your partner never finds out, the worst punishment is having to live in your own mind, knowing you are a dishonourable person who lacked integrity. You have to contend with that reality and the possibility and consequences that come if/when your partner finds out. Scenario 3. You fail to visit your elderly family members when they are lonely or in need of some help. The biggest punishment and retribution is living with the reality that you neglect people who (likely) loved you deeply and sacrificed a great deal for you.

Finally, I know people always ask about those who do not feel the regret, remorse, guilt, fear etc. that usually comes from “wrongful” actions. For those people who tend towards sociopathy, or who are so numbed or terrified by truth that they live in their own delusions. Those people will never experience true connection, true love, true intimacy. Because they have so many dysfunctions and barriers that remove them from healthy and functional human connection.

To the sociopaths who can abort anything without sadness, to those who can cheat without the pain of knowing they betrayed someone who trusted them, to those who can neglect their own children and families without feeling the necessary emotions associated with vice and virtue, those are the true loser. Because to feel no negative emotions as the consequence of wrongful actions, means the abundance of positive emotions and connection that comes from virtuous action are equally stunted.

For people like that, their prison is living in their own minds and being starved of the emotions, experiences, and learning paths that make us human. It is a compromised existence lived in fear, distrust, delusion, and deceit. That is the karma for those who can commit wrongful actions without feeling the usual emotions that follow. You cannot give people karma, neither the supernatural or non supernatural type of karma.

For the non supernatural, karma is simply cause and effect. You screw people or treat them badly or seem to do negative things and never explain yourself, etc. This leads to other people treating you like crap, not lending a helping hand or even giving a blink when you have a heart attack on the pavement. For this to occur, you have to choose to do those things and/or don’t bother other other people’s thoughts and/or be too lazy to explain yourself.

Aka you chose your karma, not others chose for you. For the supernatural type, that’s even more straight forward. It is similar to the non supernatural type but it extends past your current life. So if in a previous life, you were Hitler, well you’re going to get a lot of people unhappy with you at first sight or first interaction. If you gassed someone or ordered someone killed, supernatural karma will rebound that action back to you in your current life and when you are dying (from getting hit by a truck for example), people who could help you will decide not to. Again you choose the karma, not others.

However, for the supernatural type, there are two things you can choose that will supposedly affect others. If you were the one gassed in a previous life and the current life’s Hitler just got hit by a truck and you seriously do not want to get involved (you’re late for work, you don’t know first aid, the guy looks hopeless. etc), you can choose to go pass your emotions and help him. This is rare however because you need to be able to basically not be the normal you and instead be a better you. In this case, you chose to release Hitler from his karma with you (though he probably still has millions waiting) and that is not giving others karma but removing it. The second type is when you get good karma for doing a good deed but give it up to someone else, such as your spouse or parents or even something nebulous like humanity.

Karma is the very broad concept of cause and effect; what comes around goes around; you reap what you sow; do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. it is there in every language, every scripture in the world. It’s a major Law of the Universe of energy. Nothing happens without an effect, a ripple that goes all around, radiating, with every action, whether we’re aware of it or not. Not an atom or molecule can move without affecting everything else around it. A butterfly’s flight here affects the rainforests in Brazil. Cheers!
