Someone is ALWAYS watching you

In January, I went with the family to a rodeo day. I won’t lie, we felt like the city slickers in the country. There was so much to see and experience and all in all the whole family had a lot of fun.?

There was something though that caught my eye. In fact, I’ll share a picture with you...?

While the cowgirls in the ring showed off their skills and expertise a crowd soon gathered. Girls who could not have been any older than 10, pulled themselves up onto the fence to watch - no doubt imagining themselves riding in the ring when they grew up.?

It made me think that no matter what industry you are in or what you are doing in life, there are always people watching and looking up to you. There is always someone wanting to be like you.??

Inspiration isn’t one size fits all.

Think back to when you were 10 years old… who did you look up to? How did these people inspire you? How did it change the way you saw the world, or interacted with others in your everyday life? How did what you noticed shape who you wanted to become and even who you didn’t?

Whether you realise it or not, you are this person to someone else. There is always someone to the left and right of you, above you and below you who is curiously watching you for clues, lessons, and signs of the person they are dreaming of being and becoming.?

You are the person who is inspiring the next generation of women in our world.?

You could be the reason a woman starts her business in the future. You could be the reason a woman decides to throw their hat in the ring and stand out in a field that is traditionally male-dominated. You could be the person who inspires a generation to make change, and you may not even be aware of it.?

We all need someone to look up to, and with IWD coming up later this week, I invite you to get curious about the messages that you are putting out there into the world. Imagine the little cowgirls sitting on the fence, watching how you show up. Think about the future you are showing as possible.

My wish is for you to be the person who instead of dimming your light and your brilliance welcomes conversation and debate in the hopes of uncovering magic every day. Remember your story is yours alone and that you don’t have to follow in anyone else's footsteps. You can choose to walk the path least trodden, to feel comfortable in the uncomfortable so that others can see that there is another way to do things - so that they may also evolve our future tomorrows.

I also appreciate that right now some of you reading this may be feeling stuck or questioning why anyone would admire you.? Please cut yourself some slack and leave the self-judgment and self-doubt at the door. It’s incredibly easy to beat yourself up for things and tune in to that voice of comparison-itis.? Instead, take a moment to reflect on what you have already achieved, about the small successes you achieve each day. Remember for every one of those successes you have so many people cheering you on and so many others watching and noticing, even if you can’t see them.?

It isn’t about one bad day, one bad week, or one bad month. It’s about your legacy and the lasting impact you have on others.?
