Anacapa adds to leadership team
Anacapa Advisors, a hedge fund company specialising in market direction based in California, has broadened its top-tier personnel by welcoming two new senior executives to its team, Sam Rosenberg, who assumes the role of Head of Business Development, and Mark Wayner, who takes on the position of Senior Fund Manager.
Rosenberg brings a wealth of experience to his new role at Anacapa, boasting three decades of professional background that includes leadership positions at hedge funds exceeding $1 billion in assets, such as Natixis and Société Générale.
Meanwhile, Wayner, who will collaborate closely with the firm's CEO and Founder, Phil Pecsok, in managing the portfolio on a daily basis, brings with him three decades of industry experience in futures, derivatives, and options trading. His background includes previous roles at Citadel, Bank of America, and BNP Paribas.
Brevan Howard continues global trader recruitment drive
Brevan Howard, the global macro hedge fund firm headquartered in Jersey and co-founded by Alan Howard, is actively seeking to expand its trading team by reaching out to hedge funds and banks worldwide. This approach is outlined in a report from eFinancial Careers.
Among the recent additions to the firm are Markus Hveem and Chris Almeida. Both professionals joined Brevan Howard earlier this month, with Hveem making the move from JPMorgan and Almeida from Bank of America. Hveem, who spent two years at JPMorgan in Paris, has taken up a portfolio manager role in Geneva at Brevan Howard. Almeida, on the other hand, departed from Bank of America after an almost decade-long tenure as an equity derivatives trader, spanning locations such as Sydney, Hong Kong, and New York.
Qube taps fintech for new talent
The newly established quant fund, Qube Research & Technologies, has brought on board a former fintech professional.
Ben Nicholas, formerly a technical analyst at FlexTrade, a fintech company specialising in trading infrastructure and algorithmic trading execution across equities and FX, has taken on the role of quantitative technologist at Qube.
The report also indicates that the company is in the process of a broader hiring initiative. Jonathan McDermott, a former Vice President of Northeast Power Trading at JPMorgan and an experienced natural gas and power trader, has also come on board as a Quant Trading Director.
BNP Paribas appoints Global Head of Investor Coverage
BNP Paribas has designated Scott Carter as the Global Head of Investor Coverage, a pivotal role encompassing the provision of services to hedge funds, asset managers, and pension funds. This appointment aligns with the bank's strategic focus on this sector, which forms the core of its "bridge with corporates" initiative.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Scott Carter served as a Partner and assumed the role of Head of Trading and Portfolio Financing at AQR Capital Management, a prominent global investment management firm. In this capacity, he directed AQR's global trading team and portfolio financing endeavors, overseeing functions such as trade execution, financing, clearing, cash management for AQR's funds, and the management of the firm's counterparty relationships.
