Some useful points from ASME Section VIII div. I: (part1)

1.    If thk. > 38 mm then:

·       From UW-11(a)(2): full RT (E=1) is mandatory.

·       From UCS-56 (table UCS 56-1): PWHT is mandatory.

·       From UCS-66: MDMT calculation is necessary and usually Normalized material shall be used.

2.    If thk. > 50 mm then:

·       From client specifications (usually): reinforcing pad is prohibited (Self-reinforced flange shall be used)
