Some Things Never Get Old

Some Things Never Get Old

This morning I was looking for an old set of keys and then I came across this gem ??. Brian Tracy's 'Psychology of Selling' was the first sales training product that I invested in as a new sales professional. I was working for the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills at the time and Brian Tracy was one of the featured speakers at a personal development seminar at The Palace that I attended.

Being brand new in sales I was looking for ways to get better and have structure to my approach. Brian's program gave me the sales methodology I was seeking to find. He provides ideas, strategies, and techniques to sell better and sell more.

What I love about this training is that it never gets old. Now the format has changed, I purchased this originally as a cassette tape, (today you can consume it digitally) but the message is still relevant and timeless.

I remember listening to it for the first time. Then after that it was 'Play and Rewind', 'Play and Rewind', until I got what he was teaching and could apply it to my sales process. After all, repetition is the mother of all learning. Keep in mind, people only remember 7% of what they hear for the first time.

How did your sales journey start? Who influenced you in the beginning?

This really drives home the value of podcasts in today's digital world. Driving to and from the office, jogging around the track, or any other activity you would normally play music —you can now access thought leadership that 20+ years ago would have cost you $25 to 50. Makes me curious if people list their podcast subscriptions on their LinkedIn profile or resumes. Hire me to acquire the strategic direction of these thought leaders.
