Some Points Mean More Than Others

I lost my Amtrak points. If you don't ride the train for two years the points expire. As many emails as they sent they did not send the "Your points are about to expire" email I have received in the past.

That usually inspired a train trip. United miles no longer expire Even if I didn't fly, the credit card keeps the account active. I could not imagine going eighteen months without air travel. Points and rewards are something I enjoy.

It is not a stream of income. Many times I join the club just for the discounts. I have lost 7-Eleven points before. Was I going to receive a free hot dog or something? Don't pay retail. About once per year I am informed that a five dollar credit was earned at AMC Theaters.

There is a five dollar popcorn and soda combo. I also receive a free large popcorn in my birthday month. I used my Regal points for a free ticket once. They kind of need the money so I would rather pay for a popcorn- half off every Tuesday.

When the Amtrak points expired I unsubscribed from emails. In the future I shall ride the train again. I don't need reminders or suggestions to open an Amtrak Mastercard. I wish women were as interested in me as credit cards companies are.

Enjoy my anonymity. I have done well on many fronts. Many treat me like I do nothing at all. Isn't that their problem? Just because I am not interested in coaching services they turn their noses up at me.

I have been rejected by people with more prestige. Ernie Johnson Jr reprimanded me once. He was a sideline reporter on TNT when they had football games on Sunday night. I attended a game against the Jets when they were at their most pathetic.

It's hard to believe the Jets ever had a low water mark. After Rich Kotite lost seven straight games coaching the Eagles he was fired and rewarded with the Jets. This was their 1-15 season. I was part of the audience watching the postgame interview chanting "0 and 5!" which was the Jets record at the time.

Ernie Johnson Jr was trying to do his job and did not appreciate the background noise. He has done very well on Inside the NBA and with the passing of Craig Sager, he is the most recognizable person at Turner Sports.

None of which has to do with points programs. I go back to the era of punch cards. Visit a restaurant five times and the sixth sandwich was free. It was a better system than downloading some app.

CMX Theaters cultivate a good experience. Their website has been under maintenance for a year or so and I never had points credited. Don't worry about it. They have good food and really nice theaters in an upscale mall. I don't go often enough to attain another tier.

Whether that is spending a certain amount on concessions or buying many tickets- don't worry about it. At least there are movies worth seeing in theaters. I was not a customer for years. They seemed to need as much as revenue as possible after Covid 19.

Doesn't mean I shall watch lesser movies. Some are worth seeing once and the experiences are good. That is more important than upgrading to a paid program. Wouldn't I end up seeing lesser movies to justify the monthly fee?

Another story, another article. Frequent guest programs are a reward for loyalty. They can lead to specials and discounts. Work the perks and go where you enjoy. You might receive something nice.
