Some Notes from 'Make Sure Customers Find You Online'

I am currently learning SEO skills, and today, I just finish a course (Make Sure Customers Find You Online) from Google Digital Garage.

I decided to share some of my notes here. They're informal, and they're mostly for myself as a future reference.

  • A search engine's goal is to create the most relevant list of results to help the searchers find what they’re looking for.
  • Write quality content that gives value to your customers.
  • Speak the language of your customer when you’re writing your content.
  • Include words and phrases that customers use to search for your product or service.
  • Encourage links to your site, engage with customers through good content, and promote your site with social media.
  • Encourage others to write about you, and encourage links to your site.
  • If you’re just getting started, use keywords that have less competition.?
  • For small businesses, long tail keywords can help you.
  • Don’t add extra keywords or variation of keywords to your pages. Repeating them unnecessarily is called keyword stuffing (it is against search engine’s guidelines).
  • Set SEO Goals

- Conversion (turning website visitors into customers)

- Engagement (persuading them to interact with the content on your site)

- Acquisition (acquire new customers)

The course I took is for complete beginners who want a friendly introduction to learning SEO.

If you're also a complete beginner, like me, I think you can also benefit from taking the course.
