Some new features of Maximo 7.6.1.2
This new feature pack fills some of Maximo's long-awaited shortcomings and as usual adds exciting new features. The list is long and some take time to properly test them, so I will limit to listing the new features that might push you to consider an update sooner than you imagined ;-)
Among the most anticipated features ever, the ability to upload multiple attachments at the same time. The solution is really minimalist: it works but I would have expected a few more frills like drag & drop support (but maybe these "wow" effects are relegated to work centers)
The drill-down feature has finally been improved, both aesthetically and functionally. In addition to locations and resources, it is now able to show other objects such as spare parts and preventative maintenance items. Also, with this new widget you can easily move resources and positions in the hierarchy.
PS: the UI of the widget is aesthetically quite similar to the add-on I created years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icfEGP1Oiio) but it doesn't seem to be as configurable. I will investigate in the coming weeks to see if this is really the case.
From this version, you can create a storeroom hierarchy by specifying parent storerooms. This speeds up some operations on items and I can imagine that in the future others will be added, especially about reordering process:
The ability to create scripts that will run as asynchronous jobs intrigues me a lot. I will study&test it as soon as possible to understand how it works and in which areas it can be useful. Below the sample script from product documentation coded in Maximo Business Rule (MBR), the proprietary scripting language of Maximo that seems to fit very well for short scrips like this:
The expansion of the work centers continues unabated, now being able to carry out the main inventory management operations:
Finally, this feature pack adds many key extensions to IBM's extended EAM platform strategy. E.g. there are native connectors for IBM IoT solutions and new integration possibilities through the new Kafka endpoint (this keep Maximo à-la-page)
