The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. A time for delicious food, fireworks, and spending quality time with friends and family. Who doesn't love celebrating our independence? Over the years, I've had the chance to spend the Fourth of July in a variety of places throughout the US, each with its own unique charm.
Santa Barbara, CA:
Santa Barbara is a beautiful city located on the California coast. It's known for its beaches, its Spanish colonial architecture, and its mild climate. Growing up in Southern California, there are more restrictions on fireworks displays than in other parts of the country. However, Santa Barbara celebrates the Fourth of July with an incredibly festive atmosphere and some of my best childhood memories are from this magical place. There are parades, concerts, and fireworks displays. Also, you can watch the fireworks above the ocean while swimming and sunbathing at the beach. Some of my favorite hotels are Rosewood Miramar Beach (for the best beach views right on the water) and Belmond El Encanto (in the hills with breathtaking views of the city and ocean).
St. Michaels, MD:
St. Michaels is a charming town located on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland not far from Annapolis and Washington, DC. It's known for its historic waterfront, its shops and restaurants, and its beautiful scenery. The Fourth of July in St. Michaels is a more low-key affair than in Santa Barbara. There are no parades or concerts, but there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. You can go for a beautiful boat ride, have a picnic on the beach, or watch the fireworks from the town dock. Make sure to stay at Inn at Perry's Cabin, an iconic hotel on the Eastern Shore.

Washington, DC:
If you're looking for something more upbeat, the nation's capital is a great place to celebrate the Fourth of July. I spent 7 years living in DC and this was my favorite holiday in the city. There's a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, followed by a concert on the National Mall and a fireworks display over the Reflecting Pool. You can also visit the Smithsonian museums or take a boat ride on the Potomac River. Check out the Hay-Adams Hotel and The Jefferson Hotel, which has an incredible rooftop with views of the Potomac.
These are just a few of my favorite places to spend the Fourth of July. No matter where you go, I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating this special holiday.
If you're looking for a place to spend the next Fourth of July, I encourage you to check out one of these amazing destinations and reach out for help with planning.
