Some Interesting Data to Whet your "APPetite"
AppAnnie recently published their 2017 Retrospective Report. There are some fascinating, if not staggering, data points in this report. Here are just a few that blew my mind:
- First time App downloads exceeded 175 Billion (Up 60% over 2015)
- Consumer spend exceeded $86 Billion (up 105% from 2015)
- Each App user spent, on average, 1.5 months of their year inside apps (up 30% from 2015); An average of 3 hours out of every 24
- The number of downloaded Apps averaged nearly 2 apps per human being on the planet!
- Smartphone users spend nearly 7x more time in native apps than in mobile browsers, and tend to access the Apps 13x more often
This data clearly shows the disruption and transformation that has now resulted in a truly "mobile first" world. Whereas not so long ago it was "If you don't have a website presence, your business model is doomed", now it is clearly "If you don't have a native mobile app, your business model is vulnerable, if not doomed". ?
