Ready for your weekly dose of good news? Here are some compelling trends that should make you feel more hopeful about the trajectory of sustainability.
1. Renewable Adoption
Renewables now comprise 30% of global power generation, and solar and wind energy have never been cheaper. 2023 likely saw peak emissions from fossil fuels for energy generation. The future is looking a little less oil and gassy.
2. Conservation Efforts
Even though deforestation and species decline are still happening at an alarming rate, recent trends are looking more hopeful. In 2023, deforestation halved in Brazil. New regulations for species and biodiversity recovery are coming into play as well.

3. Corporate Climate Action
Companies are increasingly taking significant steps towards addressing climate change and other sustainability issues. The number of companies with net zero targets increased by 40% from 2021 to 2023. These efforts are crucial for meeting global climate goals and ensuring a sustainable future.
4. Sustainability Reporting Convergence
Global reporting standards used to be a complex patchwork of different acronyms, commonly known as the ‘alphabet soup.’ In recent years, global reporting standards and frameworks have converged around the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards.
5. Sustainability Spotlight
??? In this part of the newsletter, we share a positive sustainability story that might go under the radar for most to celebrate the movement's unsung heroes. This week, we are celebrating our client CTL , who just became a certified B Corp.
Achieving B Corp certification is no small feat. It requires companies to show industry-leading dedication. CTL's overall B Impact Score of 84.2 showcases its commitment to good governance and its employees, community, environment, and customers.
Congratulations to the entire CTL team on this great achievement. More details can be found on their B Corp page and you can see how Good.Lab helped CTL in our case study. ?

A new?report?this week found that wind and sun aren’t just growing faster than fossil fuels—they’re growing faster than any electricity source?in history.
