In my last newsletter, I made some promises, and as the year comes to a close, I want to honor them. Life threw me an unexpected challenge—my mom passed away two weeks ago—and it caused some delays.
I share this not to bring you down, but because it’s been a powerful reminder of what truly matters: living a life filled with meaning, doing what we love, and cherishing every moment. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
My mom was a lawyer who gave up her own career dreams to care for my dad, my brother, and me as we moved from place to place. She did not want me to do the same sacrifice; she always encouraged me to work.
This week, in keeping my promise to her, I’ve returned to doing what I love: my work. It brings me joy because I’ve chosen a path that aligns with my heart. Even in this time of grief, my work offers me solace—it’s a source of comfort, not a distraction. This is possible for every one of you. Believe it. Living a life filled with dread or drained by unfulfilling work isn’t really good for anyone of us.
One thing I’ve learned through my grief is this: when someone we love passes, we find solace if they’ve lived their life fully. But it’s heartbreaking when we know they didn’t get to chase their dreams. So let's remember that. We all role model how we live; our kids are watching. They will feel less heavy when you are gone, knowing you did everything you can by pursuing your dreams.
That’s why I’ve prepared what I promised earlier—to help you take steps toward a fulfilled life, inspired by the lessons my amazing mom has left me for the nee eyar coming up. (Details below.)
If you don’t want to carry regrets into your 80s or 90s, now is the time to act. Whether it’s a career change, a new job, or a hobby to pursue in retirement, it’s worth chasing, at least worth exploring! Don’t leave this earth without using your unique gifts and following your dreams.
It’s okay not to know where to start or how to get there—that’s exactly why I’m here and I have these gifts for you or someone you know. (Below)
There are also gift cards you can buy for others who may need this extra push.
With love and gratitude,

2 个月Brooke, Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom. May you find the memories of her to be vivid as you continue to honor her in the life you live. It’s been four years since losing my dad and I’m still caught off guard on the occasions when I think of calling him and then remember, in almost the same moment, that I can’t. You’re a sweet person. Comfort and blessings to you, my friend.?

2 个月What a significant & moving message, Ozlem. How beautiful that your mom impressed that to you. A little over couple years ago my dad said, "If I make it through this, yeah, I'd like to see the pyramids with you. And, your mom and I are going to go on road trips again." Less than two weeks later, he took the high road to heaven. And on a very personal note, 20 years ago I somehow dodged about same fate. Always here to support you in the wonderful work that you do! Well, and as always, your friend.

2 个月I am so sorry for your loss dear Ozlem Brooke Erol. I can relate to this as I lost my mother in December 5 years ago and since Decembers brings mixed feelings of grief and joy same time. ?????
