Some Facts about Laminated Glass and How it Makes driving Safer

Have you ever noticed that why your vehicle’s front windshield looks different than the rest of your glasses in your car?

The reason is that front windshields are laminated glass. It means that there’s a thin layer of plastic between two glasses and molded finely to develop a laminated glass. Some people also call it safety glass or sandwich glass. 3 different words same meaning.

So why is it so important to have this glass in the front?

It's because during the time of collision when the airbags open it creates a vacuum and laminated glass shatters and cracks by withstanding the pressure of the impact. If there had been any other glass it would break immediately upon impact and airbags won’t function properly.

Also, laminated glass gives you proper vision while driving. The lifespan of this glass is said to be 3 – 5 years depending upon the usage. After 3 years it is advisable to get it replaced by a professional,
