Are Some Facility Companies Heading Into Troubled Times

As we come out of recession have facility companies realised that tradesmen can earn far better rates of pay. I have been offered at least three contracts recently with rates that are so low I have had to turn them down. I wonder if these companies realise the market has moved on. In twenty five years of being in business I have never turned down work, instead just taken on more staff to cover the work. Unfortunately with these contracts I can not not just increase staff due to the low rates on offer. The companies have obviously signed up to cover this work at low rates and I don't know their contracts but assume they will face penalties if they can not deliver. They can always find someone cheaper to carry out the work. I know someone I sacked as he was a danger to the public is carrying work for a facilities company I turned down. I know other companies that have a terrible reputation taking on this work now. Others that are on stop all over the place doing this work. These companies are getting desperate and taking anyone on.

It amazes me that they did not realise some time ago where the market would be heading and put in more realistic pricing. Not all companies are in the same boat. I still work for some very good companies paying rates that are competitive.
