Some exciting news

I first joined the former Deeson business back in April 2014. Deeson then became part of The Panoply in December 2018 and last year The Panoply became the integrated?TPXimpact?business.

I joined a £2m turnover business with around 20 team members based in Canterbury. TPXimpact is now a £79.7m turnover business with more than 600 employees across the UK, Europe, Bulgaria and Norway.

Since 2014 I have had the opportunity to work with so many brilliant colleagues and friends. I’ve loved the variety, challenge and fun that this journey to today has given me. I’ve held roles including Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer and more recently Chief of Staff.

I’ve learnt what it takes to run, sell and buy businesses. I’ve seen the differences between privately held businesses and UK-listed public companies. I’ve led major organisational changes, gained so much valuable experience and have learnt so much.

Having some time off last Christmas, I had?recognised?that I needed to think about work and what my next career move would be. I had no specific desire to leave TPXimpact then, but I knew also that I needed to make a change and find a fresh challenge at some point.

Having discussed this with TPXimpact founders Neal Gandhi and Olly Rigby, I continued to mull over this itch during the year. And over time it became an itch that I needed to scratch.

So in the summer I decided that December is the right time to make a change and explore some new work challenges. I’ll be leaving my role at TPXimpact at the end of December 2022.

From January 2023 I’ll be working as an independent consultant, building on my passion for scaling progressive organisations.

Over the past eight years I’ve loved working with founders and visionary leaders. They are remarkable people and I’m consistently in awe of their ability to create ambitious visions and motivate others to join them on that journey.

In working with founders and leaders, I’ve realised that I am most effective when working to help them create and lead the organisations they need to achieve their goals. In?EOS-terms, I’m a classic?integrator.

So this is where I’m going to be starting my next work adventure in a few months time. You can see more about that?here.

But for now my focus remains working with colleagues across TPXimpact, working to become the integrated organisation we want to be, helping our clients to create meaningful change at scale.

In my experience you are a pain to work with. People should know what they're getting themselves in to. 1) You're very hard working, you never quit and you're never sick. This means I had to keep up or be shown up when working with you. The latter happened far too often for my liking but I refuse to get up at 6AM like you. 2) You're ruthlessly methodical and clear sighted. This means lazy thinking and inconsistency unavoidably gets called out. Sometimes I preferred my fiction rather than you confronting me with reality. 3) You own your mistakes. You hold yourself to account as effectively as you do others. This means people genuinely respect and trust you. This one's actually only a good thing, it made entrusting you with a company I'd built much easier. 4) You can't really hold your drink. This one is a positive too because it was consistently amusing at Christmas parties. Maybe you're not as bad as I remember. A huge congratulations on everything you've achieved, I'm excited to see what's next.

Really exciting to hear this Simon Wakeman. You've done amazing things at TPXimpact and will go onto achieve even more in your new role! Keep in touch. I also want to say a huge THANK YOU for the support you've shown me as a woman of colour in tech, and for listening to my story.
