Some days we've got the world in our hands and some others... well, we don't.

Do you remember your first infamous day?

When I was 9, I was super excited about my little brother's communion. That tradition is very strong in Spain.

I jumped out of bed and ran to the hairdresser, I had 2 hours of excruciating pain ahead with two ladies pulling and stretching my hair at both sides of my head.

Like some sort of angel vs demon caricatures, the one at my right shoulder would be praising how beautiful my curls were, and the one at my left buffing and clicking her tongue to show how much she hated her job.

I didn't care. It was a big day, I had been collecting little presents for a whole year to surprise him. I had a beautiful skirt with berries in it. Everything was perfect.

As we were arriving at the place, a bird pooped on me.

Are there seagulls in the city? because that ginormous sh*t couldn't belong to a sparrow. It sprayed my hair and clothes.

Curly stretched hair works like tuxedos: only dry cleaning. I still remember my mom patiently wiping my tears and hair with a dry kleenex (not the same one), and blatantly lying to me, "it's okay, nena, you can hardly notice it."

That day bad luck chose me. And I'm sure you have your stories too.

Those days that you're going late to work and there's a traffic jam, your car breaks in the middle of the highway, you find out that your wallet is still at home when you're buying your lunch, and the cashier sends you a condescending look... You get the picture.

It's like walking with a rain cloud over your head. You just want the day to end.

When I have one of those, I buy a lottery ticket. I always say, "luck chose me today, let's see if it wants to give me an unexpected twist." It never does.

But I'm sure you had some unrolling-red-carpet days, too.

Those memorable days that you wake up fresh as a rose, your partner brings a surprise breakfast in bed, you find a parking spot right at the office's door, you're client #1,000 in the store and get a free lunch, and you find a $5 note on the ground.

Those days the sky is brighter, the birds sing around you but keep their toilet businesses far away, and you don't dance and sing in the middle of the street only because you don't want to go viral the next day.

I had one of those a few weeks ago.

I've been a Mindvalley member for a year now. I love that learning platform, and I was reading their emails about this "Mindvalley University" thing they're celebrating in Estonia. It all sounded out of my reach.

Then one invitation to jump on an informative call > why not? I've got nothing to lose > Someone asking about volunteering opportunities > Them reopening the applications only for a few hours only for the people present in that call.

They needed people with experience in events management (I've got 5 years) and/or working with youngsters (another 5 on my bones).

I got in.

In a matter of days, I went from the child glued to the pastry shop window drooling at the sight of other children eating chocolate and macarons, to the one receiving a big piece of juicy strawberry cake from the pastry chef himself.

From next Friday I'll be reporting from Tallinn until July 25th, learning from world-class leaders, working side by side with international experts, and joining the most amazing theme parties ever.

Of course, I didn't start packing. And I probably won't until the day before, it's my nature. But I already have my artistic make-up brushes and journal ready.

Never heard of Tallinn before?

When I say Tallinn, people here say, "oh! from Eurovision!" but don't really know anything about the city.

I'll be reporting daily from there, follow me if you want to learn more about that corner of the world. Be ready to learn some jaw-dropping facts. The place is a gem.

And I suspect Disney got some inspiration from there ??

There are so many things I want to ask you! Please, tell me about your best/worst "lucky" days. Did you know Tallinn was so beautiful? Have you ever been there? I would love to know! :)

Love,

Carmen

PS. My reporting from Tallinn and the event will be on my LinkedIn, Twitter, and Medium profiles. Let's connect!

PPS. I honestly want to know about your lucky days and any tips/advice about Estonia that I should know before packing. Let me know in the comments or DM me, please :)
