For some there is no contingency plan - let's show compassion by supporting our small business community

From a personal perspective, I define the last two months as "reflective chaos." I have spent more time with family, revitalizing personal health and remembering my purpose; in parallel, I have watched a global pandemic flood the Earth. I never thought this is how I would re-calibrate, increase focus and steer clear of distractions, but it is exactly what's happening. 

My experience may not resonate with everyone, in fact it likely comes across as insensitive to many. However, we can all agree it has been "chaotic." I empathize with essential workers, small business owners, recent graduates and many more who have been substantially affected by COVID-19. I not only feel compelled but have a strong desire to help others in this time. I am choosing to help small business owners as they have a special place in my heart

How? I volunteer with Consult Your Community (CYC), a national non-profit that provides pro bono consulting to small business owners in 27 college towns across the country (See 2019 Impact Report). In 2019, we provided 60,000 hours and an estimated $1.1M in pro bono counsel to 112 small businesses (65% were run by either minorities, immigrants, or female majority leadership teams).

CYC surveyed these clients and 86% said they won't be in business in 6 months due to COVID-19. Given the financial pressures on businesses due to COVID-19, we are creating an emergency relief grant to gift to small businesses in need.We have set a goal of $10,000 for this emergency relief grant in a short sprint by May 5th.

I set my personal goal to raise $2,500 (updated due to generosity) and will match up to $250 to help achieve this! Please partner with me to make a tangible impact on several small businesses who otherwise have no option. I believe we can band together and show true compassion in this tough time.
