Some confusing pair of words

Few words are not exact homophones or homonyms. They differ in spelling and pronunciation and sometimes, cause confusion. Examples of such words are as follows.
1] access = a way of getting near to or at someone or something
Being an ordinary citizen, I cannot access the Prime Minister.
excess = an amount of something which is more than necessary
Excess of sweets are not good for health.
2] remainder = a part, quantity or number that is left over
Because many guests attend the party, there was no remainder in the kitchen.
reminder = something that causes something to remember
The bank sent a reminder to the client to clear the debt in time.
3] forward = towards the front
He went forward to welcome the guests.
foreword = a short introduction to a book by a person other than the author
Mostly, authors want famous persons to write a foreword for their books.
4] enquiry = an act of asking for information
My enquiry to the job website is regarding the status of my application.
inquiry = investigation
Students take interest in scientific inquiry.
5] volition = the act of making a decision
One needs time to make a volition.
violation = breach of law or promise
This violation will lead to a heavy fine.
6] carton = a cardboard box for keeping goods
The apples were packed in cartons.
cartoon = a drawing depicting humorous situation
Children like cartoons.
7] wonder = the emotion aroused by something surprising
I wonder how ancient kings built the Pyramids.
wander = to move about without a definite purpose or destination
Animals wander in forests after eating food.
