Some businesses are switching off their websites during COVID-19

It's crazy this even needs saying but... I guess it does. If your business isn't currently trading you shouldn't switch off your website. It's not like a TV set you can just switch back on again. Any presence it has with Google would be COMPLETELY lost by doing so, and could take weeks, months or even years to recover when you do eventually decide to turn it back on.

If it ever does recover.

Instead of downing tools, switching off your website and announcing you're closed for business you should do what the smartest of businesses are doing... pivot. Did anyone else read that in Ross Geller's voice then?

PIVOT!!!

Think about how you can keep your business going remotely. Can you offer services via the phone, video or post? Can you offer services via the internet? Can you automate your offering? Can you record video and have people watch, share or even pay to subscribe? Can you do any aspect of your work remotely?

At the very least you need to be keeping your business name in the forefront of people's minds by maintaining your social media presence. Remember, the whole world is at home right now. The internet is receiving more traffic than ever before. Your current and future customers are on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google and every other platform you should be using right now.

Business hasn't stopped, it has evolved. Either you evolve with it or you might come out of this with no business at all.
