Some books are different

Nothing is more difficult for me, making a video, than to face a topic already treated by other film makers, and sometimes at high levels!

The book-trailer for "Voci dalla Shoah-Gaspari Editore" (Voices from the Shoah) could have represented one of those case if its editor Mr Claudio Facchinelli https://www.facebook.com/Claudio-Facchinelli-100790284804270/ and Mrs Rosana Rosatti hadn't come to my aid.

Rosana, in her essential and sober way to espose, has told the very first, paining, moment when a friend of her mother, the Auschwitz-Birkenau survivor: Mrs Goti Bauer, decided, in the early '90s, to report the terrible experience she went through.

The way in which this re-enactment of the nazi killing-fields was made by a witness represented for my work the crucial point. I wanted to give back vively the image that sudden came to my mind from the Rosana's narration, and the great amount of my efforts went in that direction. I wanted rend the distance, the gap from the raw Goti Bauer's story and the environment where this telling was done the first time.

Mrs Goti Bauer tells what she experienced, cruelties done by human beings toward other humans. She describes the primal brutality of lean bodies leaved in the filth, tells about neglected wounds, scratches, blisters on frozen feet, humiliations...

...The shareable pain of the injured body, the feeling of fear of everything and the stench, often, emerge from this testimony rendered in a neat, welcoming living room, during a gathering of kind ladies.

A frame of familiarity, friendship and human warmness understandable at every lattitude, into every human culture.

As video-maker my logical path was to interview Mrs Rosana Rosatti in the same living room where "Voci dalla Shoah" was born.

The calculation was correct.

The Rosana clean telling of Mrs Goti Bauer's first confession to the friends, of the horror passed through Auschwitz, made immediatly measureble the distance among humans that seem, instead, to belong to different planets. The necessary considerations of the editor Claudio Facchinelli accomplished the book-trailer.

My work: this video, is only an invitation to read "Voci dalla Shoah" and the many other books on the topic published in the world.
