Some AI Thoughts

Some AI Thoughts

Happy Father's Day and I hope you all are having a great day. I don't know about all of you but the augmentation of AI in our daily lives has been a positive for many. How do I show that to those that are sceptic of its inclusion and don't see it as an augmentation, we'll let me tell you a story.

The foundations of AI vastly circle around the data, what its trained on and the quality of the data ultimately determines its usage. Many have invoked RAG (Retrieval augmented generation) this is to tackle the constant retraining of models and hope to make them more real time. I know we all hear AI everywhere but large vendors such as 微软 and 谷歌 are heavily investing in the future of work and that involves leveraging AI and identifying what are potential winners.

But these large companies have access to all the hardware 英伟达 英特尔 and others right. Yes, these companies are investing heavily on ensuring their pipeline are secured and how they can invest in next generation AI and even reduce the earth footprint in relation to carbon. Yes, unfortunately this hardware and its acceleration come at a cost one that large organizations are continually fighting to reduce. There is no doubt that by having leading edge tools and being close to next generation chip designs will reap rewards.

On the more open landscape I see Microsoft Copilot making large inroads in the automation and no code space and with their introduction of Copilot to 365 flagship it will become more prevalent for their consumers of those products. But aren't we simply just enriching these companies' data, so they benefit more, and their sales pipeline get even stronger. The short answer would be yes but it's not just that simple. At the center of all these activities should be ethics and that ultimately should drive customer satisfaction and retention. I think the bigger questions is if AI is the only show in town and its one, I ponder. Right now, the focus is on AI and its layering into the enterprise architectural fabric and where enterprises ultimately go with innovation. Another question is if AI is not the only show in town what industries benefit from that. The story I promised goes around the inception of AI and where we are now. AI started as laboratory research and now we have come to the stage of if it can become sentient (A long way). Today if I order online, drive for an hour or watch something AI is guessing my next move based on its algorithms. But when do we outgrow these algorithms and let it grow its own knowledge and have less human involvement. That is where my story may end as we ponder how that framework is even possible and do, we potentially just self-destruct as the lessons of the past are ignored due to perceived better knowledge and application of that knowledge?

This week is more of a thought and speaking out loud I hope it stoked some thoughts for you and I hope you all have a great week.
