Solving Challenges in Vet Med

Solving Challenges in Vet Med

Earlier this year, we launched the new “NVA Pet Peeves” podcast to address the ongoing challenges facing veterinary medicine. Looking to engage hospitals and the industry, we aim to deliver information in more innovative and conversational ways. ?

Each month, NVA’s Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Sandra Faeh, and I invite thought leaders from within the NVA Community to discuss critical issues, from navigating misinformed clients influenced by Dr. Google to fostering supportive work environments.?

If you haven’t subscribed, you can do so?here on Apple Podcasts?and?here on Spotify. ?

Here’s a look at our most listened-to episodes to date:?

When Dr. Google is Misinformed: Dr. Jennifer Mitchell, Medical Advisory Board (MAB) President and Managing DVM at Thiensville-Mequon Small Animal Clinic, joined us to talk about educating clients in the digital age. We discussed the challenges of helping clients who have “done their research” to make good health decisions for their pets and finding the balance between giving clients accurate information while at the same time not discouraging their enthusiasm for understanding more about their pet's health.?

When One-On-Ones Aren’t Happening: Dr. Charlie Berk, Metro-NY Area Medical Leader, touches on the importance of check-ins and one-on-ones. Dr. Berk emphasizes how leveraging data can help DVMs create more effective patient outcomes and financial results. He also describes using one-on-ones to check in with the person, making space for them to lead the conversation.?

The Strained HM-MDVM Relationship: Dr. Matthew Timmons, the Managing DVM at Springbrook Animal Care Center, speaks about one of the most important duos in veterinary medicine: the Hospital Manager and the Managing DVM. They discuss how building trust and effective communication can be the difference between a successful practice and a struggling one.?

Here’s what our listeners are saying:?

·??????? “I have recommended the HM/MDVM relationship episode in certain situations where the content was beneficial as solution support!”?- Shannon Jones, Senior HR Business Partner?

·??????? “I love listening to Pet Peeves! It’s a great way to hear about important topics that are affecting our hospitals and about new and exciting things that other clinics are trying. It prompted me to look into scribe AI services so I can speak about them to my mentees and to consider how hospitals can better utilize their staff and promote professional development.”?- Dr. Amy Kafer, NVA General Practice Mentor??
