Solution by Jains :- #To Change Present Irrigation Scenario - #To increase Irrigation Efficiency and #To increase Agriculture Growth

The concept of Micro Irrigation (Drip + Sprinkler) pioneered by Jains in India is already addressing part of water woes faced by country through saving more than 50% water applied on farm thus improving ‘on farm water managment significantly. However this does not address water conveyance and distribution efficiency in canal system. Therefore a unique and revolutionary approach has been pioneered again by Jains called‘‘Jain Integrated Irrigation Solution’’ (JIIS).

Jain Irrigation Systems Limited has taken a major initiative to convert at least a majority of the canal command areas into Jain Integrated Irrigation Solutions, wherein the irrigation efficiencies will be very high as compared to conventional systems and farmers will be benefited by increased yields, reduced input costs and government can avoid difficult land acquisition.

During the last 4-5 years, we started working on few concepts and developed unique solutions. We have taken pledge that we would work in this direction to fulfill the mandate of the nation to increase water utilization efficiency at least by 20% in an integrated and holistic manner.

We have already started working in this direction and executed few projects. Through this initiative, we have pioneered the concept of Integrated Irrigation Solutions which involves a package of services like conceptualization of the project, survey, design, supply of material, installation, commissioning, after sales service, O&M and training of farmers. The components of such integrated solution contain development of water source, head work, conveyance system, DISNET, on-farm irrigation system, pumping system and automation. Such solutions deliver very high overall project efficiency. This not only results in doubling the irrigated area but also increases crop productivity and ultimately generates more income and profits for the farmers. Such outcome makes these projects economically viable, thus contributing to increase share of agriculture sector in overall GDP of the nation. In such projects, water is normally distributed under pressure through closed conduits which results in uniform and equitable distribution. Therefore the projects are also socially acceptable and inclusive in nature. These projects do not involve land acquisition or rehabilitation issues and they are eco-friendly.
