For Solopreneur’s Sake, ….Crossing into the “Growth Quadrant” Also Requires Mastering Hard-Skills, not Soft

From GW's Leadership Management Workbench....

A mistake that most small business owners make is doing all the work themselves.

While this is necessary when your company is in the Emerging quadrant of its life cycle, once you “cross the chasm” into the Growth quadrant, and no longer need traction, you are limiting yourselves to fewer opportunities to expand your business, and it’s costing you thousands of dollars. Plus your company is still at risk!

The statistic that 80% of small business will fail is true, and they always fail because of the lack of growth out of the emerging quadrant where gaining traction is key.

Too often a Solopreneur fails to remember that they are also entrepreneurs,

…..they just are doing everything themselves until they leave the emerging quadrant!

This means that solopreneurs and entrepreneurs must both master the hard-skill competencies of the 6 Functions of Leadership Management: Strategy, Planning, Organizing, Leadership, Teamwork, and Control.

However, at this point in your company’s life cycle, there is a higher risk that you will be lulled into thinking you gained enough traction to remain viable, but don’t realize that at least 50% of these companies will fail “After Traction.”

Most small business owners don’t realize that it is necessary to “transform” your company’s management process and ?business model as quickly as possible out of the emerging “traction quadrant” of its life cycle and into the Growth cycle, “after traction.”

The mistake that Emerging Traction solopreneurs make is that double digit growth cannot occur if you, the solopreneur is doing all the operational work yourself. This leaves little time for unleashing what I call your company’s “creative juggernaut!”?

055-AXIOM OF? ”After Traction” in Growth Products

With developing any new product AFTER TRACTION, the creator’s ultimate metric is to be innovative enough to be able to form a whole different market segment, not just replace the products in the maturing quadrant of the current market niche.

And if you have “crossed the chasm,” it takes a whole different set of processes to remain in the Growth Quadrant.

And different strategies to enter and compete in the Maturing Quadrant.

That’s why processes “After Traction” are more critical to long term success rather than processes during “Traction.”

Which is why mastering the hard-skill competencies of management when you are a Solopreneur, or entrepreneur,

….will pay dividends when you need to delegate accountability to others, even when “others” start out as part-time helpers!

If you are a leadership manager as a Solopreneur, Entrepreneur, or Department Manager at a going concern, the smart money is always placed on the person who understands the principles and axioms of managing, and they are not the same as just running a position or being a creator.
