Hello there solopreneurs,

After showing you how I fixed my wounded heart in the last edition, today I will be bringing it down to earth. hahaha. :-)

Let's chat about solopreneurship, truly one of the most liberating and clever ways to run a business today. I'm fascinated by this concept because we're living in the first era where it's genuinely possible to build and scale a business on your own, without employees, without those dreaded endless meetings, and without the typical challenges of managing a team.

Mind you, this doesn't mean working in isolation. Rather, it's about cleverly leveraging systems, automation, AI, and freelancers to handle the heavy work while you concentrate on what genuinely matters, growing your business and actually enjoying the journey.

After 15 years managing creative teams, I took a jump into solopreneurship, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with that decision. Those years taught me so much, and while working with brilliant teams created countless wonderful moments, the complexity of those relationships often became overwhelming.

The creative industry brings a particular challenge where professional relationships and friendships constantly overlap. After all that time, I came to a simple realization: I genuinely prefer having straightforward friendships without the messiness of also being someone's boss or colleague. And that decision is hard to make. Specially in creative industries, because creating something together creates a strong bond between people. Its inevitable...

Well...I'm a person who demands a lot from people. Perhaps it's rooted in my Danish upbringing, but I've always been incredibly driven, disciplined, and accountable. For years, I wrestled with frustration when others didn't meet my expectations. This drive comes with its downsides...I've experienced burnout (read last issue) from pushing myself too hard and have missed important life moments because I was too focused on work.

The turning point came through painful self-reflection. I realized I couldn't mold others into sharing my relentless work ethic, nor should I try. This insight was surprisingly liberating. As a solopreneur, I channel my demanding nature where it belongs - toward myself and my own standards. While I still collaborate with companies and freelancers, I've found a certain peace in primarily relying on myself and the automation systems I've built. The pressure now flows in one direction only, and there's an unexpected freedom in that.

My growing fascination with AI and automation developed alongside this personal shift. I was amazed to discover I could automate substantial parts of my business operations, handling tasks that previously needed an entire team. This insight completely transformed my approach to work and expanded what's possible as a one-person business.

Not all ventures are equally suited to automation, naturally. That's precisely why I want to share with you, which business models I've found work brilliantly for solopreneurs embracing automation, drawing from my own journey from managing teams to successfully running a business on my own.

These business types allow you to automate most processes, outsource when needed, and scale without limits, all without bringing on full-time staff.

Digital Products & Courses

Create once, sell indefinitely. AI can assist with developing course content, writing copy, creating apps and automating marketing. Platforms like Gumroad, Canva, Printify, Zapier, N8N.

No warehouses or staff, just digital tools working behind the scenes. Consider print-on-demand, dropshipping, or digital goods like templates, Notion dashboards, or AI-generated artwork. Shopify, Printify, and Etsy make this quite accessible.

Newsletter & Content Creation

If you've got a distinctive voice, perspective, or expertise, you can monetise it. Newsletters, blogs, YouTube channels, and podcasts can all generate income through sponsorships, affiliate marketing, advertisements, or paid subscriptions. AI tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and Descript make content creation remarkably efficient.

AI-Enhanced Consulting or Coaching

You don't need to build an agency to earn money helping others. Whether it's business advice, fitness coaching, or mindset development, AI can automate client onboarding, scheduling, and even preliminary strategy planning. I implement these workflows for my clients.

Subscription or Membership Models

Rather than one-off sales, build something people subscribe to. This might be an exclusive community, a premium newsletter, or a digital tool. Think Substack, Patreon, or Circle. No-Code SaaS & AI Solutions

Yes, you can run a software business without being a developer. No-code platforms like Lovable.dev or Bolt.new let you build applications without writing code. AI tools can handle customer support, marketing, and automation. And its fun to do vibe coding and build these systems!

Being a solopreneur is about leverage. It's not about doing everything yourself, it's about using technology, systems, and freelancers to work more intelligently. Here's how...

Automate Whatever Possible

If it's repetitive, there's likely an automation solution. Use Zapier Agents (my favorite), Make, N8N and AI tools to automate customer service, emails, social media, and even sales processes. you′d be surprised at what can be automated! I also do this for companies.

Collaborate with Freelancers, Not Employees

You don't need a permanent team, you need specialists for specific tasks. Use Fiverr, Upwork, and Facebook groups to access quality work without committing to full-time hires.

Develop Scalable Revenue Streams

Offer products, courses, or services that don't require your time for each sale. Focus on one-to-many models instead of trading hours for money. I repeat: Don′t trade your time for money!

AI is the ultimate ally for solopreneurs. It can create content, generate leads, respond to customers, and even design graphics. The key is knowing how to use it strategically. This newsletter will be showing you how!
