Song of Solomon 1:1 The song of songs, which is Solomon's
Solomon was the wisest and richest man in the history of the world. Solomon even wrote a book that was canonized in the Bible. Solomon was personally blessed by God and owed everything he had to God. Solomon ended very poorly though. We don’t even know if he was a child of Satan or a child of God. (Not everyone is a child of God, until you are saved, you are a child of Satan). We do not know if he was saved. He turned to false religions at the end of his life.
1 kings 11: 9 So the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the Lord God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the Lord had commanded. Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.
We do know that he started out very well. Born into royalty as the son of David. Solomon had all the right genes and basically hit the demographic lottery. David even gave his son clear instructions, and led by example.
1 kings 2:1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, I go the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man; And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself:
Not only did he get great advice from King David, a man after God’s own heart, but God personally talked to Solomon as well. God asked Solomon what he wanted and gave him that and more (God always does that). We say, well if God talked to me personally like that, I wouldn’t have problems. Let’s see how that worked.
1 Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
King David, his dad, gave him a kingdom. God personally granted all of Solomon’s requests and then some. Yet. Something went wrong. Personally, I think he was too smart for his own good. I dislike seminaries for that reason. Primarily it teaches you to argue. Every seminary has a doctrine and dogma to defend. You learn to defend those instead of ‘going and making disciples’. I have seen top seminary students turn sour. Loosing their faith, fooling around with weed and drinking. When you learn to argue you learn to question and visa versa. It makes you petty, argumentative, mean spirited and opinionated.
Satan is an example of being like that. He was smart as well. He argued with Eve and because he was smarter, he won and we all lost.
Genesis 3:
The Fall
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
The Bible clearly tells us not to argue. It’s not godly. It’s not edifying. Its a bad testimony. And it’s a worthless waste of time. Especially on facebook. I call it ‘Bible Wars’ . No one ever will won an argument. It is all about pride. I am right you are wrong. Vanity. Just like some seminary grads
Titus 3:9-11 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
So. Solomon was smart. He was curious and inquisitive. He was a constant student of life. He had thousands of women from every walk of life. Probably had arguments all the time. God told him only to marry within his one true faith. But he didn’t listen. A curse of most smart people they don’t listen very well.
Solomons Fall
1 King 1:1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; of the nations concerning which the LORDsaid unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, thathis wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
God does not want a perfect doctrine, or dogma. He doesn’t even want a perfect understanding. He only wants a perfect heart towards Him, nothing more.Solomon’s heart wasn’t perfect toward God. His passions led him to get infatuated with thousands of women. If you are infatuated by someone you are intrigued by what they believe. You study it. You fall in love with other’s ideas and opinions. Your thirst and hunger for knowledge is a love affair in itself. And the perfect heart for God sink slowly into the sunset as you drift away from Him. Solomon t about this.
Eccl 12:12 And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh.
Wearies the spirit and soul as well.
I personally think Solomon was saved, but not sure. Solomon wrote in his old age that everything was vanity and ….
12:13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
We’ll find out about Solomon soon enough. Seminary students around the world argue about Solomons eternal destiny. I hope he’s saved. I want everyone to be saved.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
