Solitude
When I began my career, I was often advised to speak up and show up. I did not understand well, its meaning at that time. What it meant to me then, was to feed upon information, regurgitate in my own words and fashion and make sure my presence was felt. This often led me to make comments which came from impulsive reactions versus thoughtful wisdom. The immature me thought I was making a positive impact. It is over years and over many mistakes I learnt the value of silence, of just withdrawing , getting into an oblivion, maintaining distance. Just being in solitude has given me a sense of power that my tongue doesn't realize
I have still to experience deep sense of solitude as per yogic traditions, but in my own nature I am quite self reflective and go into deep states and moments of inner awareness. I am realizing very often these help me settle the storm around me and within me. It helps me see things with greater clarity and escape from the distortions, distractions and noise. In just those few moments of silence when people around me go about debating, arguing and cancelling out each other on a particular topic, I begin to experience something more profound and cathartic. People around me think I am with them, while actually I am not- I just am within me. I almost feel it is a new found gift I have unearthed and and no measure I am willing to trade with anything else
I also find that my intuitive abilities are stoked by this silence that very often I am shocked at myself on how true my intuition turns out to be. I cant explain the science behind it , but am pretty sure there is some brain power operating within me. Next time in you are in a group chatter, just try to go within your own soul, try to sift out the noise and see where you are and what you want and then take a moment to crystallize your thoughts and emotions. distill away the emotions and just stay with the logic and the intuition. Let me know how it feels and what you experienced.

2 年Can't agree more. Very true I perfectly understand. Especially when we do wesr a HR head role and people call it a people function silence is considered as being rude or not having a point of view Not everyone and everything needs a point of view . One needs to have some amount of courage to be silent as well .
