Solicit feedback from students

It's human nature to want to know how we are doing in the eyes of our students and peers, and students want to know how well they are doing as well. However, getting honest feedback from students can often be a difficult and touchy situation. Students may fear retaliation from a teacher if they do not hear what is wanted from them. You may want to ask your students to give a letter grade for how they perceive their own progress if the course was to end today, to evaluate their own perception of their personal and academic progress.
