Sold Out in Brisbane!

Sold Out in Brisbane!

Our latest networking event in Brisbane sold out 3 weeks from event date, and people are asking us how.

Firstly, it is one thing to sell out an event in Brisbane 3 weeks out from event date, it is another thing altogether to fill that Brisbane room full with key decision makers. For Convergence 2.0 (www.howdoweinnovate.com) we are now expecting over 150 decision makers in a powerful and highly engaging 200+ people room.

I think that you may agree with me when I say that most networking events consist mainly of consultants, marketers and sales people (people meeting quotas), so our ratio has completely tipped the idea of traditional networking events on it's head.

Networking is about people, not quotas

First of all the 80% sales focused people in the room creates a competitive environment, not a collaborative community. We know this from experience. More and more you will see less and less of decision makers in a room like that. We are talking about extremely busy people and it doesn't feel nice to be hounded at an event that you are looking to meet interesting people at as well. We understand this pain point and have responded in kind. To the sales focused people that do attend, we help them by going through a process of shifting mindset. We do this through education and training to focus on relationship building for bottom line results.

All great business starts with a great conversation

The paradigm shift and education piece here is around how we win friends and influence people for the long term. How we value, invest into and nurture new and growing relationships.

Are you an engaging conversationalist to begin with? Do you have stories and experiences that are relevant and worth sharing? Are you adding to the dynamics and energy of every room you step into? Does your personality, attitude and sincerity come through in your interactions? If your primary focus is to sell, you will fail in the environments we create. If you are a generous and kind person with a primary focus to help, you will win at our events.

Decision makers do not like to be sold to (no one does), they desire really interesting and engaging conversations with others they can relate to; interested people are very interesting. Furthermore, they love solving problems and pain points. We have focused purely on the outcome of the individual for toward solutions and results. We plan, prod and prepare in advance to construct an environment where everybody not only enjoys themselves, but they also win.

How is a really good question, but the why is much more important

Brisbane, and QLD for that matter, is not known for its quickness on the draw when it comes to event registration. Ask any event producer or manager and they will quickly agree with this point.

That is why when producing an event in Brisbane, it is ten times more difficult than Sydney and Melbourne for example. The culture affects the environment you are looking to create, but if you care about producing outcomes at an individual level you will win in Brisbane and beyond.

As a potential patron, we all know we need to network, but at the same time it is difficult to qualify and quantify your time and money investment. Can I recommend you not go to another networking event again, that does not make it painfully obvious that they are trying to help you at an individual level. Their goal should be to make you feel welcome, introduce you personally to people that may be of interest to you and take the time out to understand your needs. Every network that doesn't care about the outcomes for EVERY individual, is ripe for disruption.

If you build it, they will not come

If you build it they will not come, but if you start caring about what matters to the people you are looking to attract, you will win and win and win.

As part of our event initiative we are launching a series of workshops and masterclasses to help individuals in Brisbane who care about growing long term-sustainable business. 17 years on and we are still very much passionate about getting relationship marketing right for our clients.

We personally care about the outcome of every individual that enlists and help them through the true business development potential in their business. How to maximise all event opportunities exponentially. The key learnings here can be immediately implemented into Business Development Programs, Events, Sponsorships and Marketing.
