SJVN’s Competitive Procurement Call For Solar Modules: The subsidiary of Indian hydropower utility SJVN Limited, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has invited bids for the supply of 1,960 MW DC of solar modules for its projects to be installed in various states.?
This 1.96 GW DC capacity will be distributed for 4 projects. It includes 2×700 MW DC projects for the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). It will also deploy modules for another Punjab project with 280 MW DC capacity.??
The remaining 280 MW DC project is planned for Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). SGEL plans to develop 1 GW renewable energy projects in Assam under a joint venture with the APDCL (see India Solar PV News Snippets).?
The maximum capacity to be allocated to a single bidder will not exceed 700 MW. Winners will be required to deliver solar modules for each project within 180 days from the date of issuance of the letter of award (LOA).?
To be eligible, the bidder should have an annual average turnover of INR 30 lakh ($361,133)/MW for the total quoted capacity for the last 3 financial years.?
SGEL issued the call on February 15, 2024 with the last date of submission being March 11, 2024. The details with tender number SGEL/CHQ/CONTRACTS/MODULES-ICB/2024 are available on its website.
THDCIL Seeking Consultants For 1.3 GW Solar In India: India’s state-owned power sector enterprise THDC India Limited (THDCIL) is on the lookout for consultants to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a 1,292 MW ground-mounted solar project in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer.?
Eligible applicants will be required to submit the DPR for the development of 1.292 GW (phase I) Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Solar Power Park as part of a 2 GW solar park in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. It is planned to be located at Village Bodana in the administrative division of Nachana-I.?
The scope of work also includes conducting a topographical survey, geotechnical studies, soil testing, hydrology survey, environmental impact assessment (EIA), social impact assessment (SIA), and the like.?
The selected consultant will also provide information related to the total solar power capacity to be developed in MW AC terms, individual project size for the plots, estimated cost of solar power/kWh, availability of transmission capacity up to the destinations, and time schedule for execution of the park.?

2 GW Solar Tender Of UPPCL: Launched by the state agency UPPCL as the buying entity, the tender invites solar power developers to identify land, and install and own the project. These need to be set up on a build-own-operate and maintain (BOOM) basis.?
A single bidder can bid for a minimum 50 MW and a maximum of 1 GW capacity, quoting these in multiples of 10 MW. Tariffs for this capacity are capped at INR 2.70 ($0.032)/kWh.?
Projects can be set up in any number of blocks with a minimum voltage level of 33 kV for a single block. UPPCL will enter into power purchase agreements (PPA) with the winners for 25 years. A single PPA shall be signed for a single project.?
Solar modules to be used for this capacity need to come from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List I.??

Bahrain Launches Call For Solar EPC Companies: The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of Bahrain has launched a tender for a solar power project with up to 100 MW installed capacity in the Al Dur region of the kingdom’s Southern Governorate.?
The expected production capacity of the project can range between 90 MW and 100 MW. It needs to be set up on a turnkey basis within 18 months from the date of the tender award.?
Broad scope of work spans design, EPC, and commissioning the grid-connected project. Bidders can either be an individual company or a consortium with a cumulative turnover of at least $100 million in the last 3 financial years.?
The EWA published the call on February 5, 2024. It will accept bids till April 3, 2024 and open the same the next day. Details of the tender are available on the government’s tender website.??
This project, the EWA added, is in line with the national goals to diversify Bahrain’s electricity mix. The country aims to generate 5% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2025, and increase its share to 20% by 2035.?
