Indian government agencies need bidders for hybrid RE projects & land for solar: India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has launched a call for 1 GW of hybrid wind and solar energy projects to be installed across India with interstate transmission system (ISTS) connectivity.?Interested bidders need to bid for 500 MW solar co-located with 500 MW wind energy projects to be installed on lumpsum turnkey (LSTK) facilities, on captive basis. Comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for a period of 10 years is also part of the job. Winning projects need to be commissioned within a period of 36 months.? ONGC launched the call on August 12, 2024, with October 23, 2024, as the last date of bid submission. Details of the tender are available on the government’s e-procurement website with Tender Reference Number ZV8JC24007.??

Additionally, another state-owned agency SJVN Limited’s subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) is looking for suitable land to host up to 500 MW solar energy capacity.?It can outrightly purchase or lease up to 2,000 acres of land for a period of 28 years. This needs to be located in the vicinity of 765/400/220 kV Bikaner-IV Pooling Station in the state of Rajasthan. Interested bidders may offer multiple land parcels up to a maximum of 2,800 acres. It specifies that a single connected land parcel can either be 400 acres or in multiples of 400 acres, reaching a maximum of up to 2,000 acres. It issued the call on August 12, 2024 and will admit bids till September 3, 2024.??

Originally planned to be launched in April 2024, Moldova has now invited bidders its 1st renewable energy auction. Pictured is Moldova’s Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. (Photo Credit: Ministry of Energy, Moldova)

165 MW onshore wind & solar PV for Moldova’s 1st renewable energy tender: Moldova’s Ministry of Energy has officially launched the country’s 1st renewable energy tender for the construction of 165 MW of onshore wind and solar PV capacity. Winners will sign 15-year fixed price guarantee for energy generated.??For onshore wind, project capacity can range between 4 MW and 105 MW, while for solar PV it can be between 1 MW and 60 MW. Onshore wind gets up to 105 MW and solar PV projects a maximum of 60 MW capacity, with tariffs capped at MDL 1.5 ($0.086)/kWh and MDL 1.67 ($0.095)/kWh, respectively. Winners will be selected basis the lowest price offered.?The ministry had initially unveiled the 165 MW tender calendar in January 2024 when it planned to launch the same in April 2024 (see Moldova Getting Ready To Launch RE Tender For 2024-25).?

“Through this tender we aim to offer local and international companies the opportunity to invest in the Republic of Moldova,” said Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. “The beauty of this process is that it is a win-win-win situation - we provide business opportunities, we contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector and increase the country's energy independence, and through competition we bring the most affordable prices for the end consumer.”?

The tender is expected to bring in close to €190 million ($210 million) in investment over the next 3 years, according to the ministry. Once this capacity is commercially operational, it will increase the share of renewable energy in Moldova’s electricity mix from 10% at the end of 2023 to 16.6%. Moldova targets to achieve 30% share of renewable energy in its overall consumption by 2030.??Launched on August 16, 2024, the tender will be open for bids till March 31, 2025, and the bids will be opened on April 1, 2025. Tender details are available on the ministry’s website.?

Guyana seeking EPC bidders for solar & energy storage systems: The publicly owned utility company in Guyana, Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has launched a tender seeking bidders for the construction of 15 MW utility scale ground-mounted solar PV capacity along with 22 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS).?Under the Guyana Utility Scale Solar Photovoltaic Program (GUYSOL), winners will need to set up 3 solar projects with BESS capacity. The broad scope of work is engineering, procurement and construction of the facilities under lot 2. It will be financed by part of proceeds from financing under Guyana-Norway Partnership.?Guyana Power and Light is the executing agency for this call launched in June 2024. The last date to submit bids is September 26, 2024.?In June 2024, the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) also launched a procurement process for the supply and delivery of PV equipment for 21 public and community buildings in 8 lots (see Guyana Energy Agency Launches Solar PV Tender).?

Block #September9 2024 for RE+ Conference: How to Manufacture Solar Wafers, Cells and Modules Competitively in the United States

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)?has sparked a resurgence in US solar manufacturing, leading to the announcement of over 126 new or expanded solar manufacturing capacity projects across the country, creating more than 35,000 jobs and attracting over $17 billion in investments, according to the US Department of Energy. Now the first manufacturing projects are coming online, while many companies are still in the development phase. Given the highly dynamic and challenging environment for equipment manufacturers in international markets, the US market landscape offers significant opportunities and substantial untapped potential.

Hosted by TaiyangNews - All About Solar , EUPD Research and RE+, the Conference will provide a 360-degree view on manufacturing along the silicon value chain with emphasis on technology in wafer, cell and module manufacturing.

The?“Solar Made in USA: How to Manufacture Solar Wafers, Cells and Modules Competitively in the United States” Conference at RE+ will be a platform for everyone looking seriously into this topic – from investors, policy makers and technologists, including equipment makers and material suppliers. This event is about bringing stakeholders together to exchange on the most effective pathways for truly reshoring US solar manufacturing.

The Conference will take place on September 9, 2024 (Monday) from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Anaheim Convention Center, California, 1 day before the trade show starts.
