What exactly is solar power?

Solar power is the conversion of solar energy into thermal or electrical energy. Solar energy is the cleanest and most prolific renewable energy source, and the United States boasts some of the world's most abundant solar resources. Solar energy can be used for a variety of purposes, including generating electricity, lighting or creating a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for household, commercial, or industrial use.

The following is a list of some solar-powered product :

  • Solar air conditioning.
  • Solar balloon.
  • Solar charger.
  • Solar backpack.
  • Strawberry Tree.
  • Solar chimney.
  • Solar cooker.

Solar air conditioner:

A solar air conditioner is a device that combines solar power and air conditioning.

The need for solar-powered air conditioners is critical, given that three-quarters of households in the United States use air conditioning, which consumes roughly 6% of total electricity usage, costs $29 billion annually, and emits 117 million metric tones of CO2! Switching to solar-powered, energy-efficient air conditioning can help reduce the stress on the environment while also saving money.

Solar balloon :

A solar balloon is a balloon that gains buoyancy when the air inside is heated by solar radiation, usually with the help of black or dark balloon material.

It is a buoyant balloon made of black or dark balloon material that generates buoyancy when the air within is heated by sun rays. The solar balloon's heated air expands and has a lower density than the surrounding air.

Solar charger:

A solar charger is a charger that employs solar energy to supply electricity to devices or batteries. They are generally portable. Solar chargers may charge lead acid or Ni-Cd battery banks with a voltage of up to 48 V and a capacity of hundreds of ampere hours (up to 4000 Ah). An intelligent charge controller is typically used in such solar charger systems. Solar cells are installed in a stationary position (e.g., home rooftops, ground-based base-stations, etc.) and can be connected to a battery bank to store energy for off-peak use. They can also be used in conjunction with mains chargers to save electricity during the day.

Solar backpack:

The Solstice-branded solar backpack for charging gadgets-on-the-go is designed and assembled in India. The photovoltaic panels are attached to the top or back of the backpack. The purpose of integrating this solar generating power into the backpack is to allow the user to have access to a regular supply of electricity while he or she is on the go.

Strawberry Tree:

Strawberry Tree is a solar and Wi-Fi station that is permanently erected in public spaces such as streets, parks, and squares, allowing people to charge their phones for free while they are outside. The following are the main components:

  1. Solar panels convert the sun's energy into electricity.
  2. Strawberry Tree is powered by rechargeable batteries that store energy and allow it to run for more than 14 days without the need for sunlight.
  3. There are sixteen cords for various mobile devices such as phones, cameras, and MP3 players.
  4. Smart electronics that allow for a balance of created and consumed energy.
  5. Strawberry Tree also offers free wireless internet access in the immediate area.

Solar chimney:

A solar chimney – often referred to as a thermal chimney – is a way of improving the natural ventilation of buildings by using convection of air heated by passive solar energy. A simple description of a solar chimney is that of a vertical shaft utilizing solar energy to enhance the natural stack ventilation through a building.

The solar chimney has been in use for centuries, particularly in the Middle East and Near East by the Persians, as well as in Europe by the Romans.

Solar cooker:

A solar cooker is a device which uses the energy of direct sunlight to heat, cook or pasteurize drink and other food materials. Many solar cookers currently in use are relatively inexpensive, low-tech devices, although some are as powerful or as expensive as traditional stoves,[1] and advanced, large-scale solar cookers can cook for hundreds of people.[2] Because they use no fuel and cost nothing to operate, many nonprofit organizations are promoting their use worldwide in order to help reduce fuel costs and air pollution, and to help slow down deforestation and desertification.

The solar market today

Solar energy has been installed in the United States in excess of 121 gigawatts (GW), enough to power 23.3 million homes. The solar market in the United States has risen at an annual rate of 33 percent on average over the last decade. In the United States, there are more than 3 million solar installations, ranging from modest house rooftop systems to big utility-scale systems that supply hundreds of megawatts of clean electricity to the grid.
