Application

Widely used in various fields of the Air Force, civilian airports and obstacle-free airspace, helipads, for observation of meteorological visibility, prevention of natural disasters, and secure safe operation of the airport.

The meteorological visibility target (light), which is one of the important factors affecting the accuracy of manual visibility observation, and is a necessary tool for manual visibility observation.

Visibility is a measure of the distance at which an object or light can be clearly discerned. Visibility may vary according to the direction and angle of view, and height of the observer. Visibility is affected by the presence of fog, clouds, haze, and precipitation.

ICAO Annex 3 — Meteorological Service for International Air Navigation defines visibility for aeronautical purposes as the greater of the greatest distance at which:

• a black object of suitable dimensions, situated near the ground, can be seen and recognized when observed against a bright background; and?
• lights in the vicinity of 1 000 candelas can be seen and identified against an unlit background.
