What's Really Real?
The Toltec teachers called the evolution of rules over time "the domestication of the dream."
The dream of business can feel so real. As we stare into our stack of applications, our list of tasks to be done, and our goals in the business world, it IS real. It's exciting to be part of a rapid-growth, technology team doing good deeds in the world through the intelligent application of code.
But is this dream well-balanced and complete? Or have we fallen into a trap of imbalance in the way this dream operates? Is our hyper-focus on the digital world, without an equal and opposite focus on the physical world actually potentially harmful?
Stepping back even further, have you ever considered that all of the rules of culture that you have been taught were at one point made up by somebody, sometime, somehow, somewhere?
They say we each get to live our own individual dream within the larger collective dream. And the rules of the larger collective are taught and enforced by the culture itself.
Our current culture is very ill and slightly deranged right now. What can we do to counter the craziness caused by cannibalistic capitalist chaos? What possible tools do we have in our collective human toolbox that might help us navigate this great crisis?
The Counter-Culture IS a Viable Answer to the Current?Culture
Duh.
Hippies have been around since the 1960s and 1970s. Many of them are still kicking it, having raised their kids in the counter culture we saw from the summer of love on. They’re just not the people we hear about in the news. Did you think they all just vanished?
Nope. They’ve been procreating the new culture and it’s getting close to ready.
In case you hadn’t noticed, there are a lot of people expressing a new kind of individual dream these days. It’s really truly beginning to seep into the mainstream. People everywhere are once again becoming full-on hippies. But this time they have the internet to connect them all!
Muahahahaa!!
These are the long-hair-don’t-care, 2020s version of the 1970s hippie chicks armed with the Internet. These are the hunky intellectuals of the modern urban farm. And the lithe lady yoga teachers that move like healthy outdoor cats. These are the strong healthy kids that run around barefoot. These are the tantrikas and the daikinis. The open relationship folks from at your kids’ school. The permaculture (that goes back to indigenous wisdom) which can tie us back in with the earth again is present once again in our consciousness.
We are here. We’re tech nerds too.
Sex.
Soil.
Soul.
We are Gen X baby, and approximately half of us are about to hit menopause. Talk about some change about to happen. We are the Tech Hippies, and we are reconnecting back to mother earth, with technology as one of our tools. And this time, we mean it.
So who are?we?
Where did we come from? What crazy hijinks are we up to?
Mostly learning how to farm again. Honestly. And starting to raise our kids very differently from the way we were raised. Gently disengaging from the violence we were taught was the ultimate arbiter of power. Gingerly reentering conversation using Non-Violent Communication skills we had to learn through study.
Maybe we should pay homage to all the many plant medicines here.
A lot of folks are doing some very deep inner work right now. The dream is beginning to shift.

We are plugging ourselves back into?nature.
And we are attempting to renegotiate our contract both with her and with one another about how we relate to what is the commons. Air. Water. Land. Sea. Spirit. Power. Story.
We are re-writing the book of culture. Or else we won’t be here for very much longer.
People everywhere are digging in & rising up. They’re reaching down to mother Earth with one hand and grounding back into the soil. But with their other hand, they’re reaching up into the digital cloud, using the tools of father sky to make global connections via this internet thing we all use.?
We are all acting as synapses in a great global brain. And life can get to be pretty fun when you realize that — in your body — right?
You may or may not have heard folks talking about something called the great Sacred Grid? They’re speaking of a unified and coherent field of consciousness and vibration that encircles the earth.?
It sounds very high woo, I know.?
But maybe it just means we learn to put our technology and money in better alignment with the life force of the earth?
We find, and then do, what makes us?happy.
We honor and educate our children in a new way of connection.
We honor and embrace the potent force of sexuality and polarity and reallow beautiful Shakti energy to reenter the culture as an honored and welcome partner to dance with the renewed Shiva energy of the masculine.
We stop thinking we are in charge. We start realizing we’re part of the greater life?form.
We begin to quell the systemic violence, trauma, and pain that has come from millennia of living with this autoimmune condition called the dominations hierarchy.
There is a new kind of Eden that we could envision together. But we need to realign ourselves with the whole of nature to find it. To do this, we need to heal the schism between information and matter. Between spirit and science. And between all the other false divisions that have us distracted in this time of great change.
Every little bit of this work starts with a deep breath and a good hard look inside yourself.
So maybe it’s time to go find yourself a community?
What does this look like? Maybe five or six people sharing a piece of land with some tiny houses, a garden, and a gym out like we’re doing here at the Modern Temple.
People living together is an old old thing. It’s time that we considered embracing it once again.
I will end with a?question
My words seem to sprout like the sticky weed in the garden. From the garden, here’s my inward thinking prompt for this new moon.

2 年Who do I want to be in community with? People who I immediately, instinctively, intuitively know I've known since before time began. People who understand that the Whole functions best when each of the parts is given full rein to do what they love, in service to the group. People who know that we have incarnated at this point in the evolution of Consciousness to usher in what Eckhart Tolle calls "A New Earth". People to whom I don't feel I need to explain myself and who I can implicitly trust to feel comfortable being themselves with me. People who love and honor Mother Nature and Her cycles. People of deep faith in the Perfection withing the imperfection. People who love solitude and silence as much as quality time together. WOW. I could keep going forever.
