SoGal Foundation Receives Kauffman Foundation Grant to Double Impact & Expand Programs for Underserved Entrepreneurs

The SoGal Foundation is excited to celebrate year one as an officially registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the news of our receipt of the Kauffman Foundation Inclusion Open Grant. We are thrilled and honored to be the recipient of this grant focused on removing geographic, socioeconomic, and demographic barriers for underserved entrepreneurs.

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation awards grantees with “exceptional track records in removing barriers that make starting and growing a business more difficult” out of the belief that “everyone has a fundamental right to turn an idea into an economic reality…with zero barriers in the way.” We’re honored to have been recognized at SoGal Foundation for our work in 40+ chapters to serve women and diverse entrepreneurs in their communities, provide educational resources, as well as connect a global network of like-minded founders and funders. We’re excited to continue to scale and expand this programming and our global impact.

• Expanded Educational Programming: The grant will allow us to double our impact and expand to more than 80 global chapters on the hyper-local level, reach an additional 50,000+ entrepreneurs who will participate in over 500+ additional educational events & initiatives, as well as get the benefit of a peer network of entrepreneurs and investors and focused, curated, and efficient educational content.
• Build Without Burnout: We will also grow SoGal’s Build Without Burnout leadership training program focused on holistic entrepreneurship. This six-month cohort-based program takes a human-first approach and encourages founder development in executive leadership, physical health, and emotional/cognitive fitness. Led by experts, and personalized with a data-driven approach, founders are matched with a curated, intimate group of peer entrepreneurs who meet regularly in a candid environment with dialogue facilitated by a licensed psychologist. By expanding Build Without Burnout, SoGal is excited to deeply serve and guide founders to become more resilient leaders and ultimately — build stronger businesses. Apply to join our second cohort kicking off in early 2020.
• Hire Head of Development: With this growth comes our need to hire a Head of Development & Partnerships who resides in New York City to lead development of new corporate partnerships and major gifts in the US and around the world.
