Many organizations confuse software Robotics with process automation.
Software technologies have been successfully used for decades to automate processes. Industries, skills, careers and methodologies have grown and evolved in response and generate good results. Therefore, it is understandable that when Robotic Process Automation (RPA) came on the scene, existing industries and markets adopted it as another process automation tool. Now, several years later, many are wondering why their RPA initiatives plateaued at such low levels. Fundamentally, many applied the paradigms they were familiar with and failed to imagine and apply one more appropriate.
They all achieved early incremental improvement, but few achieved transformational change. Many are on the Shadow IT path leading to increased security and regulatory risks.
These strategic errors in direction, which can take 18 months or more to realize, are especially threatening with today’s exponential rate of technology and competitive advancement.
Be sure to fully realize the paradigms underlying your vision before you proceed.
