Absolutely. This is critically important capability on macro and micro levels. But HOW the capability gets created and optimised matters a lot. Software manufacturing process makes all the difference. The end product is important - desired functionality in good quality - but, alas, in modern business environment that is not enough. Fresh article by Janne Sinivirta discusses many essentials with a title that captures the main point: Continuous Delivery. That is in the heart of agile business. My angle in all this? Data. That is, how data capabilities are to be built in systemic and systematic manner. To create data-driven businesses. And not only that - but also how to make data into Competitive Advantage.
