Software Defined (SD-WAN) networking. Automated global network provisioning from CloudINX.

“There is still plenty of room for innovation beyond standardization.”

Carrier billing through Automation with Blockchain on the CloudINX (Independent Network Exchange) provides Inter-carrier settlements through a simple connection and one global platform.

Dealing with high-volume and big data transactional elements of the telecoms sector, especially in wholesale, has long been the domain of the ISP finance departments, where they frustratingly try to sort out correct billing for clients; and silently welcome an automated billing process for big data.

Anyone in the industry knows that automation is still some way off from touching all aspects of the business. But over the last few years, We've come a long way through applied Innovation, far beyond the standardisation of suggested frameworks. Furthermore, we applied the technology to provide secure billing infrastructures and automation of big data at the carrier level.

The development of interconnection standards is helping streamline the process of two disparate systems talking to each other. However, other emerging technologies are revealing themselves as complementary to telecom standardization.

Derek Friend, CloudINX?operations,?said Blockchain security is one of these technologies - complementing the work done on the?MEF’s LSO?Sonata API. The LSO Sonata API standardization is a crucial initiative being conducted within the context of the?MEF 3.0 Global Services Framework. It is part of a broader effort to standardize multiple sets of APIs, enabling service automation across multiple providers and over multiple network technology domains.

"STANDARDS HAVE NOT REACHED ALL ASPECTS OF THE NETWORK LIFECYCLE."

However, due to their development and ratification by nature, standards move slower than technological development and real-time business need, which is where Blockchain technology has quickly moved in to fill a gap within billing and settlement assurance. Furthermore, we successfully use this technology to streamline carrier, ISP and network billing. providing a greater ROI and cost savings to clients through accurate billing. Sonata API is a critical element of on-demand networking, such as that offered, but most of the work to date has been on the provisioning of networks.

“Blockchain for billing and settlement and service assurance is more complex because we are talking automated networks. We can change contact parameters quickly and additional provisioning for additional networking, IoT connectivity, ?providing accurate real-time billing, which is highly relevant to monitor and report on secure accuracy for inter-carrier settlements.”

"BLOCKCHAIN IS HIGHLY RELEVANT FOR INTER-CARRIER SETTLEMENTS."

We use the?distributed ledger technology?(DLT) of the Ethereum blockchain for automated billing and settlement between carriers.

We utilize the unique SDI capability, with ordering automated using the Sonata API.?The ordering transaction itself is recorded on the?Corda R3?ledger. Moreover, we use Corda Blockchain technology to record smart contracts between participating carriers, and inter-carrier service level parameters captured in real-time compared with typical, predefined SLAs. Moreover, performance is set in real-time.

This demonstrates the use of Blockchain in providing a higher level of service assurance to end customers while delivering a fully automated service on a multi-carrier global backbone.

The?MEF defines LSO?as the framework that is a Standards-based APIs making it easier for networks to quickly onboard third-party APIs onto their digital platform and will make even more products and services available to end customers by making the process less cumbersome and tedious. ?
