Project AIR6500 is the Royal Australian Air Force’s $3 billion program to develop a Joint Air Battle Management System that maximises the capabilities offered by existing and future operational systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in Joint and Coalition environments, enhancing situational awareness and the speed of decision making in future war-fighting environments.

Responsible for defining the overall AIR6500 software architecture solution and interfaces, you will initially be working with other key personnel to analyse, define and document LMA’s proposal response. Your extensive background in software and your experience in developing software architectures for large systems of systems, your familiarity with WBS, ability to interpret clients’ needs and the ability to communicate effectively are all pivotal to the success of this role.
Key Skills required:
- Extensive knowledge of software architectures and development approaches for a large, enterprise system-of-systems
- Familiarly with commercial and military data standards/protocols
- Knowledge of software containerisation and micro-service technologies
- Demonstrated leadership in system of system architectures
- Superior analysis skills with an ability to develop and evaluate alternatives to determine best value based on Customer-provided performance weighting
- Understanding of MBSD and MBE principles
- Demonstrated experience working on large complex programs
You will ideally have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Software Engineering etc.) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent experience/combined education.
