Softronic Craiova ?? increasing locomotive production capacity

Softronic Craiova, the only factory producing frames and electric locomotives in Eastern Europe is to sign new contracts this year for the delivery of locomotives and aims to reach 14 locomotives produced in the factory this year.

At the end of last year, Softronic delivered a TransMontana locomotive for the DB Cargo Romania group, and a second locomotive will be delivered at the end of April this year. DB Cargo will thus reach a fleet of 27 new locomotives, purchased in the last decade from Softronic, according to company officials.

Softronic has also delivered electric locomotives to the railway freight carrier in Sweden and in Bulgaria, but also to operators operating on the local market such as LTE or the local division of Deutsche. Last year the factory produced 11 locomotives for private operators, compared to ten locomotives the previous year.

In addition to the orders to railway transport operators, Softronic has a new contract for the modernization of 19 locomotives signed with CFR C?l?tori. The Softronic company was the only bidder and will modernize 19 electric locomotives, the value of the contract being 100 million euros. The manufacturer offered in collaboration with the Re?ita Reductoare si Regenerabile company. The contract includes future modernization and the provision of maintenance services.

Softronic is the only rolling stock manufacturer in the top five on the local market that managed to increase its business every year. Founded in 1991 in Craiova, Softronic has the only factory that produces frames and electric locomotives in Eastern Europe and currently sells electric locomotives abroad.

The Softronic group includes the division producing frames and electric locomotives, along with the services of Softrans, a rail freight and passenger transporter, which appeared on the market in 2002.
