A Sociologist's Ode to History

We are currently doing some consulting with a newly operational Colorado non-profit organization called Hartman Castle Preservation Corporation. Their goal is to restore a historic castle that was originally built by Alonzo Hartman, an influential settler of Colorado and one of the founders of Gunnison, Colorado.

As we were digging for archival content we came across some interesting stories from Colorado History. As sociologists, we always find historical context meaningful—and as Colorado natives we couldn't help but put that history in context of our experiences today.
