Societe Generale - Corporate social responsibility
Engaging in the fight against global warming requires all stakeholders to become actors of change. The transition will only happen with collective alignment: this conviction was shared by our senior management team, many of them recently invited to present Societe Generale’s commitment to environmental transition at two international high-level meetings.
As part of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) , United Nations Global Roundtable:
? Frédéric Oudéa shared his vision and convictions of the financial sector’s integration of environmental and social challenges. Confirming the Group’s pioneering and federating role, he reiterated our active contribution in the launch of collective initiatives, such as the definition of United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Banking and the creation of the Net-Zero Banking Alliance.
? Diony Lebot recalled the important role of the financial sector in addressing the urgency for action: “We, banks and financial institutions, play a key role in the transition. It is our responsibility to advise and support our stakeholders in their transformation and adaptation”.
? In the panel session “Transforming Finance, Accelerating Change” Hacina Py emphasised the strong transformation of organisations required to support the transition, and consequently initiate a real collaboration between stakeholders to invent the relevant solutions in the new paradigm.

During the International Monetary Fund and 世界银行 Annual meetings:
? Slawomir Krupa, Head of Global Banking & Investor Solutions, reiterated the commitment of all the Group’s activities and geographies to supporting the social and economic transformation of major corporates and local businesses. Doing so, he reminded those present that sustainable investments need to accelerate further, especially in emerging countries. He concluded: “No one can switch everything from the past to the future overnight without extreme social or political consequences. Consequently, the word ‘transition’ is at the heart of everything we're trying to do. It's difficult, we don't have all the answers, but Societe Generale is very keen to be part of the solution.”
In summary, all actors of the real economy need to be involved, requiring working on training and designing shared standards to build together the necessary decarbonisation strategies.
