Socially "Cutting Edge" Your Product

When Socrates stated "If all misfortunes were laid in one common heap whence everyone must take an equal portion, most people would be contented to take their own and depart", he did not know that years afterward we'll be able to look up his quotes via our smartphones and post it as a status line, otherwise he would have made them much more longer.
A while back I participated in a 2 days entrepreneurship conference, where many participants from a variety of domains present their ideas for private businesses and what they're missing in order to move to the next phase, based on their status, the committee suggests action items that are likely to either help them move forward or plan towards that. One of the ideas involved a music channel that plays a certain genre that is not considered popular as the typical mainstream categories. The first question that came from the hosting committee was "How are you planning on getting people to use your channel? What type of marketing campaigns would attract users?", the answer was "We only provide that type of music, this makes us unique, people like unique", 3 months afterwards they had ~2 million signed up users.
The law of uniqueness: I have 8 apps installed in my smartphone that I can use to send any type of data to anyone despite location & size, you'll be surprised to know that I often use all of them, each one of these apps have at least one feature that is super developed comparing it to the other apps, e.g. one of them transfers 10 images within 1 second, the other has a voice note ability that converts my original voice to a funny sounding noise. Be unique, even if its in a small scope, own that area and always invest in developing it, this will increase the potential of growing your community.
Become a net, not a fishhook: Imagine yourself selling ice cream on a river bank, you manage to sell 500 of them a day making a 200% revenue. Now imagine your self on the beach selling 2500 of them a day. Traffic is the keyword, know where would most of your potential customers be and stand there to provide your service, use the big social highways and stick a sign with your product on the side of each exit.
It takes one to know one: Make sure you have enough knowledge about the other available solutions in your market, the main reason is not to duplicate what the rest are already offering, but to identify the gaps and work on delivering those. Become your own customer and listen to what your users have to say, you wouldn’t ignore someone who reaches out to you in person so don’t ignore them online. Building relationships is one of the most important parts of social media marketing success, so always acknowledge every person who reaches out to you and build up a solid reputation.
Quality, Quality & Quality: Quality takes quantity. Obviously, it provides a higher added value to have 2,000 online connections who read, share and talk about your product with their own audiences than 10,000 connections who disappear after connecting with you the first time. Always maintain a high level of quality and a consistent user experience at all times.
To sum up, businesses can employ social media strategies to connect with and engage existing and potential clients, providing intriguing content while spreading the word about their products and services. As more people rely on recommendations from friends and family to make purchase decisions, it is in the best interest of most small businesses to develop and maintain a vibrant and engaging social media presence.
